Summanus - 11-1-2006 at 01:06 PM

FARASHA - 11-1-2006 at 01:53 PM

:P this for Breakfast????? I'm not a rabbit or a hamster - cellery gives me goosbumps. And tomato juice on empty stomach - jikes!!!
Never have much of breakfast, except for a cup of Filtercoffee and a slice of buttered bread with Jam. And then only if its served to my bed from my Hubby.
Desert is a MUST in my culture - we got soooooooo many delicious cakes etc..and a nice meal can't be finished without a desert and a coffee, both topped with whipped cream.
Will invite your wife for a nice Ladys afternoon coffee chat!!! of course with cake and coffee!!

look this up www.sacher.com

"I'm not a rabbit or a hamster"...HooHa! I love it! Good one, FARASHA.

FARASHA - 11-1-2006 at 02:20 PM

:lol:reminds me of a joke: After their first night SHE gets out of bed and gets her NEW hubby a breakfast - a plate with some carrots, cellery, etc.., HE looks sternly and asks"why this?" SHE answers -" Well I thought you eat also like a rabbit!":lol:

Summanus - 11-1-2006 at 02:26 PM

FARASHA, I don't get it.:saint:

I feel the axe is about to fall on this thread. We best get back to things Baja.

FARASHA - 11-1-2006 at 02:30 PM

Talking BAJA - what is the best desert you can get in Baja?
Never found a real good one!!

Summanus - 11-1-2006 at 02:32 PM

You forgot an 's'....unless you are talking environmental. For dessert...Flan is plentiful and typical, but I love Ancho Chili Fudge Pie.

[Edited on 11-1-2006 by Summanus]

FARASHA - 11-1-2006 at 02:44 PM

yeah, missed an "s" - getting tired now, its getting late here.
Never really fancied FLAN, and CHILI in a cake made me suspicious - I mean real CAKE with good filling, lots of chocolate!!

dessert

tehag - 11-1-2006 at 04:02 PM

Choco-flan. Two inches thick, very moist chocolate cake topped with 3/4 inch of flan. Yikes.

Summanus - 11-1-2006 at 04:13 PM

Come start a bakery.

--Larry

OH YEAH, would really like that, but this will have to wait til I can retire, AND would need a PRO to do the work - I'll just supervise once I'm retiring. Beside Cakes I would also make a good sourdough bread - missed that one too in BAJA.

BTW - I was told that the bakery in Loreto, next to Iguana INN has good stuff, BUT when I passed by it was closed.
So I couldn't make a research.
Are they as good as rumor goes??

:lol:Just had a GOOOD Dessert before going to sleep, BUT I could have stowed away another one - will have to install a DESSERT ALARM on my PC, which goes on automatically, whenever DESSERT or CHOCOLATE is mentioned here!! THANKS for thinking of me!!

And I would like to know WHAT is a MOLE for dessert - reminds me rather on an Animal, or a Dermatological Problem?? But from the description it sounds tempting!!:bounce:

Michael - that are symptoms of
A) LOW bloodsugar level
B) DELI - Withdrawal

Best cure - check into the next 5* Restaurant and treat yourself with some nice Shrimpc-cktail, then a Steak, followed by a good Dessert!!
Then you can open this Thread without any drooling!!!

Iflyfish - 11-2-2006 at 04:27 AM

Ken Bondy

Your photos are amazing!!!! Man oh Man!

Do you have a site where you post your pics other than here?

Whether it is under the water or on a plate, you have a way with sea food amigo!

Thanks,

Summanus - 11-2-2006 at 09:11 AM

FARASHA and other dessert lovers...While it is just past breakfast time here, I think where you are it is time for some dessert. Don't worry, the chili paste in this pie is not picante (spicy hot) and will make you drool for seconds.

Ancho Chile Fudge Pie
I N G R E D I E N T S
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar (or piloncillo)
1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. flour
2 Tbsp Terra Sol Ancho Paste (you can use another brand you like)
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chocolate chips
1 Tbsp. Mexican vanilla
9" unbaked pastry shell
Cool Whip

I N S T R U C T I O N S
Cream eggs and sugars. Add flour and ancho paste. Add melted margarine. Mix well. Add nuts, chocolate chips and vanilla. Put in shell. Bake at 350 d. about 1 hr. until lightly browned. Serve with Cool Whip.

Kick back and Loosen belt.

p.s. Ancho Chiles
The word ancho means "wide" in Spanish. It is the dried form of the poblano chile. In the dried form it very dark in color and has a deep rich but sweet taste and is not a very hot chile. In California many markets called the Ancho a Pasilla but that is not correct. The anch is part of the "holy trinity" of chles used to make traditional "mole" sauces.

Ancho Paste
You can use this chile paste as a soup starter, meat rub or add to stir-fry, potatoes, sauces or try making an ancho compound butter.

FARASHA - 11-2-2006 at 09:34 AM

OOOOOYYYY, that sounds GOOOOOD, thing is I wont get the Ancho paste here easily, but will ask around.
GOSH, my mouth is watering! Will treat myself now with a piece of SACHER cake (a Viennese CHOCOLATE Cake of special Art!) :bounce:
And will wear my jogging pants for more comfort, no belt to loosen needed.

kellychapman - 11-3-2006 at 09:51 PM

DEERT????.....it has claws on it....:?: unless of course you eat desert like I learned from the Rachel Ray show...FIRST.....that way you always have room for dinner....What I want ...pretty please...is the receipe for that "Ancho Chili Fudge Pie"....now that would make my hubby really happy for sure. Please post it for me.....us....if you would be so kind. As far as that "Choco Flan" I can give my vote that it is delicious because I have made it several times. just make a basic flan receipe and pour a chocolate cake mix over it in the baking dish, and bake like normal....comes out perfect with the cake on the bottom and the flan on the top....slightly different colored flan as a result...and man o man....it gets more delicious as the days go by because it becomes more moist.... I do not make deserts or really bake...but this came out fabulous....

kellychapman - 11-3-2006 at 10:15 PM

DESERT....I meant of course....and also wanted to ask if you were honest about not getting the joke.......:?: I am concerned if you do not, so ask your wife and she will explain it.....LMAO....alo just noticed your pie receipe....ok so I am a little slow toooooo.......and blonde, so it is perfectly exceptable....

FARASHA - 11-4-2006 at 10:27 AM

KELLY- one has to be a blonde, like the 2 of us, to understand certain jokes! :saint::biggrin:

BTW - as a blonde I need an explanation - WHAT does this :!: smiley stand for - can't figure it!!

Tomato Juice

bajalera - 11-4-2006 at 11:46 AM

Farasha, to make this acceptable to an empty tummy, dilute it about half-and-half with beer.

Salud!

FARASHA - 11-4-2006 at 11:53 AM

YOU MEAN FOR BREAKFAST?? :O:o THANKS for Info, but I rather stick with my coffee/bread/jam routine

kellychapman - 11-4-2006 at 05:34 PM

Farasha, that looks like a caution sign to me, but I could be wrong....and the thought of drinking beer for breakfast sounds like a man thing....however.....lol....shhhhhhhh....I drink vodka and Carol ann's in my coffee to start the day....of course only 1 cup...but it makes my day go so much smoother because i am such a grouch when I get up....I am grateful that I do not drink all day...but it is my favorite time to have one. I am really not a big drinker at all...but omg I love to start my day with a toddie....lol

Morning toddies....

Summanus - 11-4-2006 at 08:56 PM

I am not against a little hair of the dog for breakfast.....and neither is my cat, Bud.

Urchin and quail egg in a little seaweed cup with rice in the bottom. (Not my favorite)

I like the little cups filled with flying fish eggs. Eat them with champayne. Little explosions and implosions in your mouth at the same time. MMMMM

tripledigitken - 12-3-2006 at 05:36 PM

Jerry,

The reason they call them "mano de leon" is that they are as big as a lions paw. Well almost.

Also the big Palapa restaurant north of the turn off to GN on the highway west side (Mario's) has great food especially the scallops. Definitely worth a try. We struggle as to which one to stop at going down.

I'd take either one right now.

p.s. Jerry did you ever get to Popotla for the Pescado Frito con Ajo? I was the one that gave you directions.
