ATTENTION PACIFICO BEER DRINKERS- this just in... did you know....

CasaManzana - 11-3-2006 at 07:52 PM

....did you know that there is a heck of a deal on Pacifico beer for this month. If you buy the quart bottles (only) they call BALLENAS (bi-EEE-nas) they give you one free when you turn in 5 bottle caps that look exactly like this. You need to turn in an empty with the caps of course. Good deal or what! Offer good for Mulege, Santa Rosalia and Loreto for sure...maybe all of Baja???

tunaeater - 11-4-2006 at 01:02 AM

Saweet!
I can always use a free ballena..
Thanks for the info I'll check San felipe next weekend

sayonara - 11-4-2006 at 10:31 AM

I don't drink beer, but here is a bump for your post. It may make some guys very happy :)

shari - 11-4-2006 at 10:44 AM

Now that IS excellent unsolicited information...very usefull indeed! gracias amigo. Pretty soon this years Noche Buena (a nice dark beer) should be coming out for the holiday season. sabrosa

MORE GOOD NEWS

bajajudy - 11-5-2006 at 12:44 PM

Cases of Pacifico now have 24 bottles(used to be 20).
Of course they cost a little more but you dont have to go back as often.

Al G - 11-5-2006 at 01:43 PM

I don't want to think about how long it was before I realized there was only 20 bottles in a Baja case. It was one of the first factors(cheap beer) why I wanted to move to Baja.:lol:I didn't change my mind when I finally realized there was only twenty. In fact I was relieved....I started to think I really was a drunk.:lol:

[Edited on 11-5-2006 by Al G]

Bruce R Leech - 11-5-2006 at 05:23 PM

their is a crowd of men standing outside of the beer place waiting for customers to drop the caps as they come out:lol::lol::lol:

Some fine tuning on the information....

CasaManzana - 11-5-2006 at 08:21 PM

....this offer is only valid at the Depositos...the actual beer stores that are owned by the beer company. This is not honored by the local tiendas/grocery stores etc. The factory beer stores usually have the big Corona sign out front. They sell Pacifico, Modelo, Victoria and Dos XXX. Eat ur heart out.... I already have 15 caps to turn in:P

capt. mike - 11-6-2006 at 05:03 AM

the beer church in mulege is a rip off. i buy cases at Ponchos. or Saul's sometimes.

the quarts by tecate or pacifico are the cheapest way to drink it for sure.

keep buried in the fridge, dedicated one set to 38 degrees, and use cups.

Summanus - 11-6-2006 at 08:27 AM

I agree with all your points, capt. mike, especially for buying at Ponchos. We LOVE to see Sr. Anaya all scarved & bundled up in the wintertime..when it gets down to 60 sometimes.

but would also suggest substituting iced mugs for those cups.

dip favorite beer mugs in water and set in freezer till that hoar frost ;D forms.

fill with Pacifico, (the unhurried may cut a lime)

....quaff. (I always wanted to use that word!)

Ah..life is good.

Al G - 11-6-2006 at 08:36 AM

Summanus...I like mine at 65, but not opposed to a cold mug. You make it sound so good.

DENNIS - 11-6-2006 at 08:51 AM

Al ---

65?

I hope you're talking about the bottle count and not the temperature.

No Dennis I don't drink 65 beers in a month...
I do not refrigerate my beer in the winter and only rotate them in the refrigerator to cool, as I used them in the summer., unless it is real hot and then I will drink ice cold Corona. You should see a waitress when I ask for a warm( not refrigerated) glass when ordering from the tap. I then warm it some with my hands. I do keep one or so in the refrigerator for guests. I know that not all people are crazy.

cerveza noche buena

sylens - 11-6-2006 at 03:59 PM

now available at ensenada costco:lol:

feliz navidad:bounce:

Summanus - 11-6-2006 at 04:21 PM

I sent in a specimen vial of this beer to our university laboratory in La Paz...translated, the report came back...."The horse died of diabetis."

Jesus! Just kidding, Al G..

comitan - 11-6-2006 at 04:31 PM

Will someone please tell me why people have to have a lime with beer, my thoughts are they don't like beer and are hiding the taste. And don't tell me its to kill the germs, that's a laugh

Summanus - 11-6-2006 at 04:34 PM

comitan...it is to prevent scurvy. Vitamin-C, you know.

Diver - 11-6-2006 at 04:40 PM

I heard that a squirt of lime in a heifeweisen makes a complete meal !!
.

Summanus - 11-6-2006 at 04:43 PM

I once had to go to the proctologist because of that...I think. :O

Al G - 11-6-2006 at 05:12 PM

Summanus.....Sure glad I am not a horse:biggrin:

Our winter favorite! We are hoping they find their way to Bahia in time for the race. Last year we found them in town, paid our pesos, sat down on the patio to enjoy them only to realize they had the date from the year before on the label. We now check the date and stop in El Rosario on our way. If they're there we grab a few...

Saludos!

DENNIS - 11-6-2006 at 06:32 PM

I think Corona beer was or is marketed with a lime. Dont know why since it would take more than a lime to kill the flavor of that stuff.
Paint thinner might work.

DENNIS - 11-6-2006 at 06:35 PM

Costco has Noche Buena? I'll be there in the morning.

By the way.... those in Ensenada, if you arn't already aware of it, Costco changed their opening time to 9 AM.

Al G - 11-6-2006 at 06:57 PM

Dennis...Do you know if this Noche Buena is still available around Dec.10th?

Dennis,
You'd better leave some for me! We will be passing through on the 14th.

P.<*)))><

DENNIS - 11-6-2006 at 07:10 PM

Paulina ---
I dont drink much but I'm taking my big truck and all my credit cards.

Al ----
It should be available through the holidays. I'll hide some for you, in the meat department buried under the pig tongues.

Al G - 11-7-2006 at 10:45 AM

Dennis...Can you pin point costco or better still CCC in Ensenada for me...sounds like a good place to stock up, because I will not haul a bunch of stuff down there. Well, I am going to Drake's brewery friday for a few bottles of good ones for mi amigos, but that is it.

DENNIS - 11-7-2006 at 12:59 PM

Sure Al --- Costco anyway. Not sure what CCC might be.

Drive through Ensenada as you usually do, till you hit HWY - 1, going south.
About 4 - 5 miles south, it will be on your left. Lots of signs and lots of traffic. The new Wal-Mart, Home Depot etc are close by, across the street. Dont let that confuse you. You will turn left, toward the hills.
Commercial Mexicana and Burger King are right by Costco but who needs BK when Costco has those kick-ass hot dogs.

Al G - 11-7-2006 at 02:12 PM

Thanks Dennis, easy to find. CCC pronounced SAY_SAY_SAY is a super Mercado smaller then a walmart super store with everything and much cheaper then the Costco in San Lucas Del Cabo. In Cabo it is on the road out to Todos Santos.

Diver - 11-7-2006 at 02:33 PM

There are a few CCC's in La Paz. The old one has a great bakery and a WALL of tequila, ATM's, fresh squeezed OJ, great produce selection, meats, and almost anything else you might need.
Parking can be tight with anything more than a pick-up camper, though.
Cheapest prices I have found for most tequilas !

.

DENNIS - 11-7-2006 at 02:48 PM

Al ---
Try the Comercial Mexicana. It's a good market with a great bakery as well. Cholesterol goes up ten points just walking through it.

No CCCs in Ensenada. No shortage of markets or gas stations though.

By the way, parking around these stores is wide open. You could park a train outside any one of them.

Al G - 11-7-2006 at 03:02 PM

Thanks Dennis for the Commercial Mexicana tip. Will check it out.

Al G - 11-7-2006 at 03:40 PM

Diver... bought fresh squeezed OJ at CCC which was great until I met this little guy and his mother in Todos Santos and his mother hand squeezed my OJ every day. Didn't think about the price, the little guy was toooo cute.

Sorry it will not post?????????????

Try pronouncing it "buy-YAY-nuh"
EEE is for gringos....
