TIJUANA – State authorities were investigating six unusual homicides that were reported over the weekend and appear to be a resurgence of the violence
that spiked in the city in September.
The style of some of the killings suggests the work of organized crime. One of the victims was found Sunday inside a car and wrapped in a child's
blanket. The unidentified man had been strangled, state authorities said.
Two of the victims had been identified as of yesterday afternoon. They included Javier Cables Mendoza, 22, who was gunned down Sunday as he sat inside
a car with another man, who was wounded in the attack.
In a separate case, Norberto García Hernández, 34, who was guarding a property in the Agua Caliente section of the city, was shot to death Sunday,
state authorities said.
Some of the other unidentified victims had been shot in the head and chest and dumped in the streets.
Tijuana saw a steep increase in homicides in September after U.S. authorities arrested suspected drug kingpin Francisco Javier Arellano.
