Race Mile 328 (El Crucero) at 'Baja Pits'...

I am sure it will be a busy place for about 24 hours... as the only place the race comes next to Hwy. 1 between Ensenada and the Vizcaino area (Race Mile 512).

Between rm 321 - 328 on Thursday..then south to Loreto rm 770 til Friday morning.
Rest at the casa in Loreto on Friday, then on to La Paz Saturday am for the awards party. Staying at the Crown Plaza in La Paz through Sunday.
Look for a White Landcrusier..Cold Beers in Loreto at the house all day Friday :biggrin:

Jim, If you are at the jumps, Stand back from the fence if you see spectators driving backwards on the course before all the racers pass. The fans there "bomb" said vehicles with beer bottles and two liter pop bottles full of sand. Some of them have very bad aim.
I'll be at "helicopter hill" around RM 150.

Going to pass on the rollers this time ...for the reasons you mentioned....that place has turned ugly for the most part....the young "kids" have some agenda other than watching the race.....may go down the highway further.....

My Tacoma is all loaded up and Baja Angel, her son Josh and I will be leaving in the morning for El Rosario's Baja Cactus Motel then on Wednesday, on to El Crucero to set up camp...

Not sure of the situation there on Thursday for the race action... But, if you don't see my silver 4 door Tacoma then it is set back somewhere... Look for the BAJA PITS sign (big orange highway construction type diamond sign)... We will be near that.

TheSquarecircle has an all gold 4Runner and we will be with him.

In refiguring the arrival times... the first motorcycles will be there around noon on Thursday and the first Trophy Trucks and other race cars around 4 pm... It looks like this first 328 miles to our pit is mostly FAST graded road... except for Calamajue wash about 10 miles before us.

We will go to L.A. Bay Friday, then head north via Gonzaga Bay and San Felipe on Saturday & Sunday.

Baja Pits has been set up at El Cucero for the past two or three weeks. When we stopped there I saw a taped off section south of the actual Baja Pit motorhome that said "Saved For David K."

The Chevy was being utilized as a kitchen area complete with tables, screen rooms and more. The bugs were BIG when we stopped for fuel at the FOX Pemex set up there.

Expect El Cucero to be an "epicenter" of activity all crammed into a very small area. During prerunning it was chase central because of the proximity of the race course to the highway. Most teams that I've talked to have people headed to El Cucero on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning...

I'm sure someone will have Internet connection at the City of El Cucero---post up!

RM 73. We will see if the class 11 nerfers can make it that far, as we will be there most of the day. Then, heading south, hopefully avoiding all the chase teams that will be using mx1 as their own little race course.

The race is an environmental disaster -- scars the land, ruins roads, and crews and spectators leave lots of garbage (a few should be commended for picking up after themselves). You won't find me or any right thinking person there.

Goat I respect your opinion but don't agree. The race is run over existing roads and trails. Some are only used for racing. I don't think this race caused anywhere near the damage to the roads as hurricane John did. This race brings more money into Baja and Baja Sur over a couple of weeks between prerunning and race weekend than anything down there during the year. That money is spread from the border to Cabo. The racers, prerunners, chase crews and spectators bring food, clothing and money donations as well. This race is a shot in the arm for the people of Baja and Baja Sur. I'm not trying to minimize any damage done and I too would like to see the trash picked up, but ignorant people will always be with us. I always pick up after myself and pick up a little extra too.

The land is for us to enjoy... trash should be cleaned up... But, stopping thousands or more from what they want is wrong. Afterall, communism is dead... except in about 4 countries where almost nobody can go where they want or afford to.
