I just returned from six weeks in Loreto. While there I had a chance to talk with many of the Mexican employees at Loreto Bay. I found them to be
interesting and sincere. They, of course, are from all over Mexico. They are not happy with this living conditions either, but they need to earn the
money for their families. Yes, they do get rowdy on the weekends as there really isn't anything for them to do in Loreto. However, they seem to
confine themselves to cantinas in own barrios (most don't have any transportation of their own). They are away from their families for up to five
months at a time. So, once again, I shall put the blame back on Loreto Bay. I am looking forward to another airline coming into Loreto to give
competetion to Alaska Air as they over doubled thier rates when Aerocalifornia was grounded. I understand Delta Air will start flying into Loreto
from LAX sometime after the first of the year. With the holidays coming up this is as good a time as any to wish you all happy holidays.

We drove to Los borrachos, the new restaurant on San Javier road on Monday evening at about 7pm.
(We learned that the restuarant closes at sundown.)
We also were surprised to see that there were new worker colonies at the beginning of the road, apparently housing hundreds-- a whole community, all
men. It looked better than the past situation in town, a little more comfortable, a basketball hoop, baseball field, laundry facilites of sorts. I
've had no problems with LB workers myself-- they seem like generally OK guys to me. But I do think that LB should be more accountable for them as
they are mostly quite young and in a strange place without family support. They apparently have paid passage to Loreto, but if they decide to leave
are often on their own to get home, and may not have the money. This spells potential trouble for them and for the town of Loreto in my book.
