Baja 1000 Course

I must say I was really surprised that the motorcycles beat the trucks and class 1 cars this year. Usually they are within a few minutes of each other. Based on previous races to La Paz I thought the fast 4 wheelers would run about a 60mph average and the fastest bike a couple of mph slower, especially since they were running the CRF450 instead of the usual XR650. I did not prerun on any of the course down south and must assume it was really tore up from hurricane John. I talked to a McMillin pit crew after the race and they said there were over 50 water crossings after San Ignacio. A nasty course favors the bikes and this must have been a really nasty course. My congratulations to all involved and especially the finishers.

Yes, indeed!

Close to our location the word was Calamajue Canyon was a bottleneck with water up to 4 feet deep in one spot.
