SENTRI Online

I'm just curious how this is going. Anyone in the process?

I just did the online part earlier this week. Kind of a pain to have to sign up each family member separately (it took about 20 minutes per person to fill out all the junk) - but I'm thinking it should greatly speed up the 'in person' part of the process...

They say that by using the online system, you will only have to go into the office 1 time, and that it will be much faster. But I dont know of anyone that has gone through the entire thing yet.

Wondering if anyone has finished this process. I did my app's last night and it wasn't that bad. I was wondering how long the wait is from finish to interview?
Thanks mick

Waiting 1.5 hours at Calexico east yesterday only to get to the front and find three gates closed made me mad enough to finally get it done. Hope it happens fast

Some discussion was held earlier. You may find it helpful.

I have updated my existing SENTRI pass on-line. I changed cars that were assigned to me. It took two weeks for the approval to show on-line. I drove to the Otay office and it took 30 minutes waiting without an appointment. The actual transaction and placement of the new transponder on my car took five minutes. That time included taking a new mug shot for a new ID card.

Must say that upon my return from Baja a few days later, I was "randomly checked" in secondary. This is the first time in three years and I'll bet it was linked to the new card and car. That process took 15 minutes as the HLS guy got on a computer and made what seemed endless inputs. No one looked in the car or asked any questions and I was sent away.

Thanks Also How does one get to the sentri crossing at Calexico and is there one at the east gate? I have never seen a lane there. Do they have hours?

From the time I submitted the online application to the time I got the appointment at Otay, it was about two weeks. They gave me the pass and transponder. Then, several weeks later they called to have me come in and redo my fingerprints. Seems something screwed up on the computer.....going back, it took about 15 minutes to do the prints...not enough moisture or something in my hands!!
Hubby just submitted his app online over the weekend. Hope his process goes as quickly......we want to go to Rosarito to check on the progress of our condo (Mar Y Sol). I sure have been discouraged by all the negativity about Rosarito lately....kidnappings, for instance!:(

We did the whole process for a family and 2 vehicles, just got the SENTRI passes a couple weeks ago. It wasn't too bad, it took about 2 weeks from doing the online application to getting approval. Initially they told me not to do an online application for my daughter, then after we got approved I saw they posted new info instructing families to do an application for every person. So we had to do a new app for her and wait for the approval. Probably the biggest hurdle for us was finding an appointment time where we all were available to go. But we did, and it was relatively painless.

Now if I can only find the entrance to the SENTRI lanes....
