Mexicali to San felipe

polsongrizz - 12-11-2006 at 09:27 AM

I have searched the archives and not anything really recent it seemed, so please forgive me if I missed it. Not having been to San Felipe in at least 20 yrs I am wondering about the road. I am also wondering about driving a new 38ft'r down there. Any problems with this and can I find a park with large enough spaces and 50amp? I also read on another site that a letter from the lien holder on the RV that states I have their permission to travel to Mexico is needed at the crossing, true or not?

Many thanks, Mitch

Road is in pretty good shape, travel it every 2-3 weeks. Get your insurance online (do search on this forum) or www.mexicaninsurance.com or like, unless you already have other means. You will not have a problem driving a 38 ftr. down there. Check www.sanfelipe.com.mx for RV parks. You won't be running your AC so 50 amp won't be neccasary.

Someone else on this board can tell you about the RV parks there with hookups I'm sure.

Since 20+ years ago: You may be surprised to find that the first 26 miles are four lanes! The lower Laguna Salada is once again DRY and there are a lot more campos north of San Felipe, some new 4 lane wide road, and El Dorado Ranch owns almost everything it seems!

You are in for a shock...

Thanks for the info so far. I am sure I will be amazed. I was used to a few hundred people at most. I am sure there are a few thousand now.
