Can anyone tell me what I can expect for typical weather conditions in Gonzaga area the first week in January? Also, is that a busy time? Can
someone post the number for making reservations?

big AL long time no see. can be very windy this time of year and cold. allso the fishing isnt the best. if i were to go down there in january i would
stick to the beaches between puertecitos and punta santa isabel. the moutains will give you protection and theres bass and triggers to catch there.

Well, I think you all convinced me that I should probably wait to visit Gonzaga again. I don't want to turn the family off to Gonzaga, when they have
never been there. Steve, I do like your plan, but I did want to stay at the hotel.
Can anyone give me an estimate of when it is safer to head that way? Is spring break still windy. I have had wind at BOLA at that time.
I still need the phone number for Gonzaga also.

Al, the two best months for most people in Baja are May and October...
Gonzaga may have wind November-April and is a bit too hot & humid in August & September. For me, you can't beat June and early July as well...4baja - 12-17-2006 at 06:41 PM

The north wind blows down the SOC until May. It doesn't matter where you are unless it is a protected bay. It usually starts mid-morning and can
blow the rest of the day. Sometimes it is impossible to get on the water for several days at a time. Winter is not the best time of year to go to

None of these posts address the possibility that January is the best/only time for you to get away. If that is the case, I can tell you that, yes it
is windy anywhere on SOC, but the further south you get, the warmer. I have a casita in Mulege. It does get cold and windy there. The cold is at night
and early mornings. By around 9:30 am, the sun is out and it warms up nicely. The winds come up a lot, but not always. You can get some fishing in
before the wind comes up. The bigger problem I see is the tide charts. January doesn't look good unless you like to get out in the very early morning
(cold) and back before noon or 1pm so that you can get your boat out of the water.
The East Cape is considerably warmer, but there is a reason they refer to la Ventana and Las Barriles as the windsurfing capitols of the world.toneart - 12-17-2006 at 08:48 PM

"lotsa hard licker" could cause raspy side effects, but multiple mamacitas would be better during a three dog night.
