I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hook - 12-14-2006 at 02:40 PM

I will be south of you, mostly. A few days in San Carlos, maybe 5 days in Mazatlan, a day or two in Alamos, two days in Tucson and then somewhere in San Diego for n.y.e.

Hey, San Diegans, anything exciting happening in your town for n.y.e??? We are looking........

Phil C - 12-14-2006 at 04:02 PM

Darn it Paula, we have to drive to Loreto. Be there for Christmas eve. Have ten days, work on the house, and maybe get to Agua Verde for a nite. Visit friends, and fish? Depends on the wind. Come by and say hi, Calle Davis corner Rosendo Robles. "Alamo" entrance. Phil and Kim

ArvadaGeorge - 12-14-2006 at 04:14 PM

Nothing in BAJA....too many people down for the holidays.........

bajarich - 12-14-2006 at 05:07 PM

I'm staying in Salt Lake City until after my wife's birthday Jan, 15. After that I head for the East Cape for two months of camping on the beach without her. I'll return to Salt Lake around the 1st of April, and then we'll both head to our timeshare in Mazatlan on April 9th. I'd like to go to Baja at Christmas time, but
I don't want to push my luck. My wife's a real sweetie to let me go in January.
Someday she'll retire and we can both head down in November and stay through April.

Cypress - 12-14-2006 at 05:16 PM

If it doesn't stop snowing I'll be hard-pressed to make it to the road.:?::bounce:

BajaWarrior - 12-14-2006 at 07:15 PM

Leaving tomorrow for my beach house below San Felipe with friends for a work party on new house, coming back home on the 24th to spend Christmas with my Dad, my Fiancee, and family in San Diego.

Heading back to the beach house on the 26th with my Fiancee and her son, coming back home on the 2nd of January.

Heading back to the beach house on the 3rd with my 16 year old daughter and her friends, coming back home on the 7th.

Now all I need is to go out to the money tree so I can pay for all that fuel!

Phil and Kim, you have a U2U.

Packoderm - 12-14-2006 at 08:27 PM

We'll be going to the Yucatan this winter. The airfare was just too good to pass up - I bought tickets way back in August. We'll be splitting our time between Tulum and Isla Holbox. I will miss visiting Baja with my new dog. Here's hoping the weather turns out to be nice - in the Yucatan for us and in Baja for all you guys.

Check out Campeche if you get over that way. There is a good little seafood restaurant a 1/2 block from the main plaza. It is just inside the city wall by the old Puerta del Mar. Neat town, especially if you are into pirate history, etc..

Uxamal is close as well..

I'm heading down to Baja just after the first of the year.. I hope all the yahoos will be heading home by then..

Packoderm - 12-14-2006 at 09:58 PM

I've been to Uxmal before. That was one of my favorites. I've never been to the town of Campeche, but that picture reminds me of Merida which I liked. My schedule is set for Tulum and Holbox - you have to reserve stuff way ahead of time if you want to be there during early Jan. We'll only be there for a little over two weeks, so there will be very little rambling around this trip. The farthest we'll probably venture is to Chitzen Itza, Ek Balam, and maybe a bit into Sian Kaan.

Iflyfish - 12-14-2006 at 10:37 PM

Sian Kaan is wonderful. We took an ecotour panga and the birding was wonderful. Log sign accross from San Francisco Market, biologist and great crew.

Talum at sunrise, unbelievable.

fandango - 12-14-2006 at 10:57 PM

i will be travelling to the ensenada area on saturday and returning on tuesday. what do you think the drive home will be like on tuesday?

i drove to ensenada on saturday of thanksgiving weekend. the traffic was backed up from the big hill all the way along the border fence. so i kind of talked my brother into trying the new B2000 when he left on sunday. it didn't go well. he experienced the longest trip of his life. six hours after he left i called him to see how he LOVED the new B2000, figuring he would be home in bed by then and he was just then cutting through a scary part of tijuana trying to get to san ysidro. he had toured all of the border crossings trying to cross and over 8 hours later, arrived home in orange county. its a great story with all the details. not sure when he will try the B2000 next. i plan to on tuesday after christmas, of course, i will have all of notes from the nomad posts.

Bajaboy - 12-14-2006 at 11:05 PM

Campeche is really nice. Also, while it has grown tremendously over the last few years, Merida is beautiful. On the weekends downtown is great----lots of plazas with lots of music, great place to walk around.

Also, some of the smaller ruins in that area are fun.

For us?

Have to stay home for the holidays need to deal with physical therapy---then we are off to Baja and then the mainland----But we can see Tijuana from here and it is beautiful in Imperial Beach in December.

Also sad because one of my favorite Holiday Seasons was in Oaxaca--- a magical city on Christmas, and now it is mess---I hope it recovers soon.

Are you actually staying in the campground or somewhere closeby?

What do you think of the redo of the hot springs?

Paulina - 12-15-2006 at 10:44 PM

Heading to Ens. for Christmas, stopping to visit a few friends, delivering pizzas along the way. A special Sweet 15 party in Bahia on the 27th, then the traditional dance on the 31st.
Some things never change. That's a good thing.

Happy holidays all!

Ditto for me. I had knee surgery today and will be doing physical therapy through the holidays. On the positive side though - our baja summer vacation will be more enjoyable next year.

Summanus - 12-16-2006 at 07:39 AM

Patagonia! Simply the best place on earth...other than Baja of course.;D

Capt. Mike,

I'm not sure if I can, as my camera is not working real well. Is the pcture in the El Cortez Motel or Barefoot Bar? I do not go there much(in fact for quite a long while now)so was not really aware the hotel had a bar other than The Barefoot? How soon do you need it?

Hopefully, I will be in Baja sooner and it will be nice to hike around with far less pain. Hope your recovery is QUICK. Don't overdo! The day after surgery I was up too much---knee still full of pain killers and I felt great---a little vicodin helped. Anyway, I slowed the recovery down with my stubborn stupidity---

When I questioned my therapist as to why my son recovered so quickly from similar surgery when he was 25, she just looked at my 60 year old overweight body and smiled.:lol:

Have a good holiday. Baja SOON
Diane

Current location, Santa Nella, CA where we just finished off a bowl of Anderson's Split Pea Soup...oh, and a couple of Manhattans!
