The southern 1/8 portion of Shell Island. I've yet to find a entire picture of it yet.

On my web site, if you click on the second link (About David K, Shell Island, etc.), you can see an aerial picture taken from the north end looking
south...
and a satelitte image of that region of Baja with the island in clear view...
And, if you buy Capt. Mike's GIANT wall map of Baja... Shell Island is shown very nicely as an island... Right Mike?

I'm waiting for someone with DOD connections and access to mil sats to give us a high res of the area!!
David K - 12-17-2006 at 10:36 AM
Yah, for sure... They recently up graded the Gonzaga Bay images... Maybe they will work north?
I brought up my Sat. image page so it will be easier to check out one's favorite spot in Baja and see if the resolution is higher than before... Who
knows, maybe you will see your own car there???

It is nice to see an aerial shot of the bahia. I have anchored for the night just outside four times in the last six weeks. On one occasion the
whole area was lit up like a Christmas tree with the lights of about 140 sailboats from the Baja ha ha. The last time, a couple of weeks ago, it was
just me and 20 pangueros inside with their lobster pots.

I thought the Gulf lobster would not enter a trap and had to be netted or grabbed by hand or snag. Am I wrong on this?
Tomas Tierra - 12-17-2006 at 03:49 PM
I thought the gulf was closed to lobster fishing, no?
capt. mike - 12-17-2006 at 04:03 PM
yes, an island, claro si que!
bill erhardt - 12-17-2006 at 04:38 PM
This may be a diffferent Bahia Santa Maria. The bahia in which I have been anchoring is on the Pacific side (not the gulf) of Isla Magdalena tucked
in on the island side of Cabo San Lazaro.

Yah Bill, the Bahia Santa Maria of ViaBaja's post is 20 miles south of San Felipe... It is a shallow, sand bay that empties at low tide.
