I met a young man
The other night
A Marine
Could he be
Your son
Or a young nephew
He caught my eye
Stared hard and straight
Directly at me
He grabbed my hand
Sir! I have a need
To talk to you
As we walked
Out upon the pier
Words came quickly
In a rush
A tight smile played
But never reached his eyes
I held his hard hand
A tear dropped
upon his cheek
Leaning on the rail
He stared out to sea
A sob
Full throttled
Broke into his
Words
He talked
And cried
Until he calmed
I took his hand
In mine
And said
Sir! Thank you
For what you do
For me and mine
We took a huge, deep sigh
Squared our shoulders
And departed
Will I tell you
What he said
Absolutely not!
I will tell you
That he fought
For me and mine
For our Country….
Could he be a brother, a son
A nephew of yours

I knew a nice guy who posted something close to this the other night. Unfortunatly, it was poluted by somebody who didn't appreciate it as much as I
did.
I hope this one stays.
