The year in Mulege

This year sure was one for the books. A tenacious one to say the least.

We were in Mulege in March. We even had my in-laws down to approve. They are from So. Cal and had no idea that Baja held such jewels like Mulege. We all got along and had fun. My son had his friend along and the weather was perfect.
Perfect weather for a fire also. We watched from our casa as the smoke rose high. We prayed the winds not change direction. The fury at which this fire raged was incredible and fast.
I remember Bruce telling me months earlier that fires are a problem in Mulege. We just happened to be lucky enough to be there when it happened. Not good lucky just lucky.

June was another month I can reminesce about. Bruce told me our house used 45,000 gals of water the previous month.

YIKES! I had to zoom down to figure out what was going on.

Sept 2006 is etched in so many minds. The gamble did not pay off it seemed. Then, a miracle, our casa survived somehow. Much sweat and 20 truckloads of debris, it stands almost alone now.

Today, it's hard to tell there was a fire. All black washed away, replaced with vibrant green. The flood will fade too. Much has been done to restore the rio. The perserverance of the Mexican people is an amazing and beautiful thing to me. God bless em!

I realized much this year. Most importantly I realized the loss of a garage and furniture seems trivial in comparison to the loss of loved ones and friends.

I have great respect for the selfless givers during the crisis

God bless all that came forward and helped others this year. Makes a man humble and proud. Thanks to you.

Suerte in 2007:yes:
