I know that it is early but wanted to give everyone the heads up on our Second Annual Baja Sur Book Signing.
It will be at our place in La Choya just across the arroyo from San Jose del Cabo on the road to Puertoloscabos.
The following authors have already committed to coming
Dick Russell, "Eye of the Whale"
CM Mayo, "Miraculous Air"," Mexico, A Traveler Literary Companion"
Ann Hazard, "Cooking with Baja Magic Dos", "Agave Sunsets", "Cartwheels in the Sand"
Bruce Berger, "Almost an Island" with Miguel Angel de la Cueva, "Oasis of Stone" are penciled in.
Last year we had 11 authors.
It will be a fun day with speakers, slide shows and possibly cooking demo by Ann.
So mark your calendars and plan to be here.

I am truly sorry to report that the reason we cannot have the event in Ida Victoria Gallery is that, a little over a week ago, there was a propane
explosion and the entire place was gutted..not one piece of art left. Even sadder is the fact that the young man(16) who was delivering the gas died.

Judy, this sounds like a great opportunity to meet some of the best Baja writers. Might be a good time for us to make a trip south. Hope you'll keep
us posted on how the event is shaping up.
More authors

Great news
Ed Vernon, "Las Misiones" will be here for the signing. His knowledge of the missions of Baja is awesome. And he is an extremely nice guy whose
passion is Baja.
Michael Mercer
bajajudy - 1-2-2007 at 11:53 AM
Yes Michael has agreed to join us again this year. Those of you who were here last year will remember him for sure. A very engaging speaker, who
spoke on the mixture of art and real estate in the Todos Santos community.

His book, "Bandidos" was banned by the local book store in Todos Santos, which of course made it extremely popular! His book,"Mexicoland" is a
collection of short stories about Todos Santos, which are very entertaining.

Been reading "Almost an Island", enjoying it more than "The Sea of Cortez".

Almost an Island is quite a detailed read and I would enjoy meeting Bruce, who began traveling the old main Baja road about the time my folks and I
did. His story on the Eclipse of 1991 is pretty good too!
Congatulations Judy on your efforts!!!

Thanks DK. Bruce will be here...come on down!
We were hoping to get Keri and Mike(Pyramid Resorts 5th Annual Book Signing and Wine Tasting will be on May 5,2007) down for this one but it seems
that they will be on a cruise celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary....let's hear a round of applause for Keri and Mike!
Paula - 1-11-2007 at 04:41 PM
Judy, Don and I plan to come. Almost an Island and Miraculous Air are two favorites of mine, and I'm really looking forward to meeting these writers.
Are your directions clear enough for San Jose neophytes? And will you let us know when it begins so we don't miss any of the talks?
bajajudy - 1-11-2007 at 05:02 PM
Oh Boy!
I cant wait to meet you guys!
From Mijares(the road the Tropicana is on) you follow the signs to Puerto Los Cabos. You will go across an wide arroyo(actually the San Jose River).
When you get to the other side, go two blocks and take a left. You will see a tall triangular building.....That is the place.
Feb 18
11-5
I plan to have a schedule of speakers soon and will post them here.
Malecon - 1-12-2007 at 05:05 PM

I will be rolling into San Jose around the 28th of January and must depart around the 9th of Feb. Reguardless, I will look you up Judy!

David K - 2-9-2007 at 04:53 PM
Ed Vernon has a fantastic book on the missions of Baja with details that warm the heart of any history fans! He continues to do research with Baja
Nomads such as Jack Swords to make new discoveries... 'Las Misiones Antiguas' has the looks of a fine coffee table book with the research information
of a history text!
Paula - 2-9-2007 at 10:19 PM
"Almost an Island" is a wonderful account of traveling Baja before the highway existed. The chapters on San Ignacio and La Paz are especially
enjoyable. IMO, a chance to meet Bruce Berger is not to be missed!
bajajudy - 2-12-2007 at 09:13 AM
Here you will find all there is to know about this event.
Hope to see some Nomads here.

Sorry had to bounce this back up for all of you, like me, who only look at "Today's Posts"
See you tomorrow!
bajajudy - 2-19-2007 at 03:33 PM
We had a fabulous day yesterday. Paula and Don showed up...twice!
Bruce Berger, Michael Mercer and CM Mayo gave presentations and Ed Vernon had a slide show from his research on the misiones. (DK you would have
loved that!
) Wendy Rudell who has a cookbook on raw food brought a delicious
salsa and sundried linaza chips. Most of the authors agreed that it was nice to be outside instead of in a gallery so we will probably do it here
again next year.
Here is a shot of Bruce Berger ,CM Mayo, Garth Murphy discussing the in and outs of publishing a book. For those of you not familiar with Garth, his
book, "The Indian Lover" is a wonderful read.
