Jeeps vs. The Copper Canyon #1

Ken Cooke - 12-31-2006 at 09:25 AM

Yesterday, we made the challenging trip from the frozen Creel to Cerocahui along frozen dirt roads (sans guardrails) at ~7,000 ft. elevation. Enjoy the pictures...

Love the Snow!

The last couple of times we have been to Creel, it froze at night, but no snow----how wonderful to see the upper parts of the canyon with snow.

When we went to Batopilas a year ago November, we had to scrape the ice off the windshield in Creel, and it was over 80 degrees when we reached Batopilas.

Look forward to seeing more pictures!

Yesterday, our group pulled Doug Rhode's van out of an icy patch above Cerocahui along the road to Urique. We almost had to abort the mission because we had to winch his van downhill in the direction of our own vehicles! :o Doug was happy to get his van back to his Paraiso del Oso where he uses it for picking up and dropping off tourists. Tomorrow, we head to Temoris, but bad weather is forecast for the mountains and fthills. Not good news with all of the ice and snow we've come across lately.
