Considering a second home in La Paz area

Alan - 12-31-2006 at 09:19 PM

As I approach retirement my wife and I are considering a second home for part-time residence. We were in La Paz last year and really liked it. We prefer the Sea of Cortez as the wife loves to fish but wants smoother water  I have a 23' trailerboat so I want to be relatively close to a launch ramp.

I'm sure it is the same in La Paz as it is everywhere else. Location, location, location.

Are there specific areas in La Paz that I should look for or look out for? Based on an old recommendation on this board I have contacted La Paz Realty and advised them of what we are looking for so hopefully she will develop some options for us but I don't know all of the different areas so I'm looking for help from all of you.

As another thought should we consider building a home or just buy something already turn key. I always see a lot of half-built houses every time I go to Baja so I have my concerns. Can anyone offer an approxiamtion of building costs/sq, ft?

Thank you for any advise you can offer

You can consider this.http://picasaweb.google.com/comitan1/CasaDeLasPalmasEncantadas

The city of La Paz is getting congested, and like all big cities noisy, a lot of people are moving out in the centenario area even the Mexicans that can afford it. But what then in 10 years it will be congested. Anything you do in the La Paz area will appreciate.

That is one of the places I already picked out to look at. Does it have a garage or just the carport?
