First post, long time lurker.
Great resource/ info site.
My question:
We have a house in La Paz. The insurer we had got out of home insurance and the broker we deal with ( Lewis& Lewis in Beverly Hills, Calif) has
offered up a different Company. Our premiums went from about $465/yr (US) to just under $1000 US !
What do any of you do for insurance? Do you deal locally? Or not at all?
We want some liability coverage, as we rent the casita in the back plus coverage against some sort of catastrophic loss.
Thanks for the opportunity to post.

Comitan,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Believe it or not, ( I am assuming there is only one Manuel Garcia in La Paz) but I know his son. I also met Manuel (sr.) in the winter of '05 in La
Paz. The son lives about 90 miles from us in Alberta and works in the same industry as I do, road building. Manuel (jr.) is coming to visit us and his
father in March.
I will get his email address and request a quote.
Thanks,
Gord

we bring architects, we bring building permits, we bring inspections, we bring monthly architect fees and on and on and on........we bring doom to our
own selves.
ain't we just a bunch of Norte Americano beauts? Take a look at the architect jerk off going on in Sloreto..ah, gringo, similar stupido, si?..holy
crap, we even had a (too wealthy) Texan insist on an architect in Ojos.........DUH! how priceless.

I've used and recommend Alani's agency - a couple blocks west of the circle on Chetumal (across from the auto paint store)

How about home insurance in Northern Baja, the Rosarito-Ensenada area? We have a house and an artist's studio that we should insure. They aren't
insured now--why not? I don't know, we just didn't do it, and we have already been burglarized--but we have an alarm now, so maybe the rates will be
better....Anyone know who to call?
