I'm not sure, Cinco. I picked it up on the beach at Punta Chivato, liked the colors, and took a tight photo on the beach while it was wet. Always
liked the colors and patterns. I'm not much on shell id's.

From the looks of it....
It's a SPECKLED SCALLOP (Argopecten Circularis Aequisulcatus)
They are pretty common on the beaches of Baja and can also be found on California beaches. They can be found in a wide variety of mixed colors. They
usually range in size from about 45mm to 65mm, but can be as big as 100mm.
Because of the wide variety of beautiful colors, they're one of my favorites. Just today, I found a very nice one on the beach in Carlsbad. I find
quite a few here on the beach, ranging from very small ones about 10mm across and up to about 75mm. To replicate that just out of the water shine
that Ken's picture has, I clean them and then spray them with a Glossy Acrylic spray which I purchase at Michael's Crafts.

How big was the Seashell?
And...does you photo do a good job of showing what the true colors were? or..are they maybe a bit off? Those colors are really beautiful!!

Gracias AmoPescar. It was fan-shaped, about 4 inches max dimension. To the best of my recollection (it was a few years ago) the colors are pretty
accurate, that's what caught my attention. It was taken with Velvia and scanned. ++Ken++
