I have had people ask me what I knew of the rock wall like feature that climbs up a hill from the gulf coast... a few miles south of Pancho's place on
Bahia San Rafael...
Talking about mystery walls.
Does anybody has any idea what the purpose of that crooked double wall ( kind of a chute ) is, on the way from La Paz to Pichilingue about halfway on
the right side halfway up the hill. Been there forever, at least 20 years.cpg - 1-19-2007 at 10:50 PM
Hey David have you seen that before?
Seems quite a bit south of San Rafael fish camp.
In the middle of no where. Any photos?
Google fun

Thanks Corky!
I still have not mastered the 3-D Google Earth... the 2-D is still keeping me entertained!
CPG, no I haven't seen it... It is very visible to people in boats and Gene Kira mentioned it once, I recall.
I think 4baja asked me about it?Bajaboy - 1-20-2007 at 08:41 AM
I saw it once while fishing with Pancho and another gentleman. It is quite impressive and mysterious. I've asked before on this board and others but
no one seems to have any info about it.

Walls

I've asked several locals about the wall in La Paz, and they can't say what the purpose is. They just call it, "La Gran Muralla de La Paz." (The great
wall). It's been there over 30 years.
Here's another wall and stone stairway some may recognize. Looks like ancient ruins, but it's still in use.

That wall is an impound dam, to catch any rain water. Saw similar ones years ago in rural Bolivia.Corky1 - 3-10-2008 at 01:59 PM
I went to Bahia San Rafael last week.
Talked to Pancho and others in the area.
The best answer I could get was that wall was to keep the livestock south of the wall as just to the north there is a hot spring with sulfur water
that made the livestock sick.
I still would like to hike into the area and check out the hot spring, if its there??
Maybe its a job for David K!!!
Maybe a Honeymoon trip for David & Angel??

Corky if you were coming down to the SF250 race we could head down afterwards and check it out. I'm off starting Thursday thru next Tuesday.Bajaboy - 3-10-2008 at 07:48 PM
Sounds like El Gato Loco and Barb will be meeting us there a week from Thursday. We might have to go exploring.....or not. Looking forward to
hanging with Pancho, though.

Looking forward to hearing what you guys at San Rafael found out since Corky was there...
Hot springs near Bahia San Rafael??? That would be great if they are usable... or really intereting if they are not... I have not heard of any hot
springs between San Borja and Mulege, but it would almost surprise me if there were not any!
