Palmilla 1974

Ken Bondy - 1-20-2007 at 12:27 PM

Here's what Palmilla looked like about 33 years ago. This was just before I made my second Baja dirt strip landing (a few hours after the first one in Mulege).

Unless you know someone who has a place at Palmilla........and then the beer is free!

My first trip down the Baja was in '68 and I have no photos and CRS. So that does flash back to some very good times. Cold beer was a treat.

My first trip across the Mex. border was 1974.... and 18 yars old!

Mmmmmmm, those first sights, sounds, tastes, and experiences....

Now I am going to tap my heels together 3 times and say "there's no place like home". . . .

Good to have these well-worn memories.... and good to have the opportunity to still create new ones!

Thanks for the photo and the call for reminiscing :)

I was in tourism school in La Paz during that time and I remember the sign as you entered Cabo San Lucas said 800 habitantes

David K - 1-22-2007 at 11:56 AM

The road to (Cabo) San Lucas was a single track dirt (not graded) road when I first went there, in 1966... The new, graded road south of La Paz had reached San Bartolo that year... It was paved for about 10 miles out of La Paz.
