The old Loreto "Penthouse" as it is now:

I like the Aero California plane in the last mural.

Just thought these pics might bring back pleasant memories for some of you.

Cool murals

Say Don , can you give us some history?

vgabndo - 1-25-2007 at 03:39 PM

No memories for ME, but should make Skeet (The Preacher) feel right at home.

Hey I love your moon walking platano.....:P

FARASHA - 1-26-2007 at 11:22 AM

What nice Murals! Did they have kinda "Theme Park" Rooms?

Sharksbaja - 1-26-2007 at 11:43 AM

Yah, in some they provide "themewear". Spurs, whips, leather. You know, western stuff.:bounce:

FARASHA - 1-26-2007 at 02:24 PM

.....giv'em the heels:biggrin::saint: >f<

DENNIS - 1-26-2007 at 02:29 PM

What kind of a warehouse was that?

BajaBruno - 1-26-2007 at 06:55 PM

Ah, it is a pity to see another such honorable building fall into desrepair. While Baja has not had particularly memorable hoarhouses, they have done in a pinch, and I have the greatest respect for those fine ladies. :)

Hey, you can stop by Pineda's and make an offer to buy the place. I forget what they're asking, couple million I think.

Dollars, not pesos.

I was just kinda wandering off, thinking about these murals, and I came to wondering if just maybe some of the patrons were so inspired by the "ladies of the house" that they felt compellled to paint pictures of their homesteads or where they had come from to leave a lasting memory so the "ladies" would not forget them??!! Say like # 1 was a fisherman, came and left by "panga grande" and the next was a rancher from the mountains,(see the pine tree) and the last, well that is pretty obvious,(except those do not look anything like the Sierra Gigantes) Aero cal, back and forth so to speak!! Those murals do tell stories.Any more wonderers out there???:?::yes:

DENNIS - 1-26-2007 at 09:33 PM

Yeah ---
Im wondering why a good hoarhouse would go out of business?

Sallysouth - 1-26-2007 at 09:35 PM

Dennis, let me take a wild guess.....you are single???

DENNIS - 1-26-2007 at 09:39 PM

Just me and my alter-ego who, by the way, is the one who types all the offensive stuff here. Not me.
Why? Are you proposeing?

SERIOUSLY !!
Thats what I was wondering too, plus - like Sallysouth, about the really artistic Murals - so I can't think of the Ladies painting it - they were probably too busy then. Maybe the Owner wanted to give the Place an artistic touch? Looks really relaxing with those Murals on the Walls - certainly better then plain painted.
My deepest respect to the Ladies that earned their living there.Tough job!
But maybe this is the Reason they left business - to tough a job, for little money, and bad reputation in an small community.
They probably got more money in bigger towns, and could have there a PRIVAT Life too - without to be stigmatized?
Or better education gave them other choices for a job.
Or is there just NO business anymore, to many married retirees that won't spend a buck for this service. As they rather stick to HOME cooking? Possible that there are less singles around, as it used to be in the past?
I understood from another thread (last summer) that there used to be quite some "Houses" all over Baja.( I found this an excellent and informative thread, it's part of the History of BAJA!!)
Times have changed, different needs now? Or is it a health issue ?

Hey DENNIS, you serious? I can't see offensive stuff here - only if you find a healthy (and fun) part of our "Human needs" offensive. :?:  >f<

Imagine those ladies made some good investments, retired early and are living the good life.:tumble::yes:

Who said they went out of business?

They moved, the new location is somewhere across the highway, in the industrial zone.

Anybody happen to know how AIDS has altered the "oldest profession"?

--Larry

HM - I'm not really an insider , so to speak. But what I understand from the pro's here at my homebase (the clinic I'm working has special program for druggies, which are also working in the BUSINESS) - it has changed!!
Insofar as that they get HIGHER prices when working w/o protection! Which is a desaster.
But what about BAJA?? Would be interesting to know if there is a difference.

YEAH - hope for the Ladies that they could retire with some good savings!! Deserved it ! >f<

Not much internet research on my part, but...

vgabndo - 1-27-2007 at 12:29 PM

Of ALL the Mexican states bordering the United States, Baja California clearly has the highest level of SIDA.

Those Guys are in-line to get in, it was 10AM Saturday

capn.sharky - 2-10-2007 at 10:32 PM

Actually, Beto Yee, the owner of the Casa Rosa or Penthouse, has moved into a new modern building. It is on the other side of the highway in Mira Mar. It is very clean and well run. So, please don't worry about the ladies not being able to work. Drop by a suck up a beer or coke. Its open even when the wind is blowing hard. You will be welcomed by good service....and that, my friends, is the hole enchilada.

Sallysouth - 2-11-2007 at 12:43 AM

Well Capt. Sharky, It is a good thing that you took the time to "scout out" the wherabouts of the missing wimmen and report back to us as to how well it is all run and even letting us know what kind of beverages to be expected served! Guess there were "northerlies" blowing? :bounce::cool:
