roundtuit - 2-5-2007 at 09:56 AM

all are being torn down. Just a few shade structures left

Lindalou - 2-5-2007 at 10:09 AM

I know ours is gone and many others as I have seen pics. Sure looks bad doesn't it? Kinda sad

tripledigitken - 2-5-2007 at 10:12 AM

What is the plan for the property? Does anyone know?

roundtuit - 2-5-2007 at 10:33 AM

Very sad indeed . lots of friends got the shaft. As to whats going to happen, lots of rumors but no facts

Lindalou - 2-5-2007 at 11:13 AM

I heard it's been sold, but like you said lots of rumors. Still in touch with Russ and Wendy but they don't seem to know either. Tell Mrs Roundtuit hello for us.

Bob and Susan - 2-5-2007 at 11:58 AM

here is my guess....

a BIG company (let's say from Spain) bought the property...

NOW it's been normalized...
NOW it can be FINANCED and resold later...

the way it was (with 3 story houses) it could not be marketed to BIG investors easily...it had permenate renters which are hard to remove whrn

Cypress - 2-5-2007 at 12:17 PM

Bob and Susan, You all have been dead-on with advice and observations regarding various topics. Looks like condo country from here.

Hook - 2-5-2007 at 12:54 PM

WOW, would sure like to see some pics of what it looks like now.:o

Great spot for a small marina........well, except for the pollution. No where for it to go; not great flushing.

Bob and Susan - 2-5-2007 at 01:25 PM

my guess....

no condos...ie: no water...
no electircty...yet...very political

no marina...ie: not deep enough...not enough visitors
no matter what anyone says...there is not that many people that "drive by"

investment for the future...YES:biggrin:

Cypress - 2-5-2007 at 01:38 PM

Seems like Bob, Susan and Hook are on the same page regarding Santispac development.:)No complaints from here.:D

no, I think a small boat marina could do quite well in the Mulege area and Santispac is a logical choice. It is a hurricane hole that even keeled boats can anchor pretty close to shore.

The marina at SR is certainly not convenient for the private boater. I think there could be much demand for a small marina in that area. Of course, water and fuel and sewage would have to be provided for. That's a big obstacle. But the Bay can often have some decent boating in winter when the outside is blown out.

It's blisteringly hot at Santispac in the summer, though.

Bob and Susan, whatever became of that "marina" just north of your place? Was it called Villas de Mulege or something?

Bob and Susan - 2-5-2007 at 07:10 PM

it's still there...
but not really a marina

the owner is still upgrading...
soon he will have flags on the hiway
he has a pretty nice ramp for himself...you can see it as you motor by

the 2003 storm hit him pretty hard as the swell came off the water

We SHOULD have ALL pitched in some money and purchased Santispac
if we could live another 50 years:lol:

Hook - 2-6-2007 at 05:19 PM

Come on, just ONE photo from the road above. Does this affect the actual homes that were along the water?

Baja&Back - 2-6-2007 at 05:19 PM

Most persistant rumour is that Carlos Slim & 3 drinking buddies purchased the whole bay from the Ejido. However, Isreal, the beach manager knows nothing.
Local business sources say that a contract has been let for a 10" waterline from Mulege to Santispac.
Telmex is currently stringing wire south of there.
The lagoon to be dredged for a private marina & the hotspring ruined.
The access road is supposed to be padlocked & guarded by late summer.

Rumours abound, but these are from local mouths.

More next month!! :?:

Bob and Susan - 2-6-2007 at 05:50 PM

none of this is true...

Vince - 2-6-2007 at 06:18 PM

I drove by there Sunday, the palapas are mostly gone except for Anna's resturant which is still open. One of the principles who bought it suddenly died in La Paz, according to a local worker at Serenedad, who grew up on the beach. But there are others who will take over, I'm sure. Went by in our boat on Friday, all the houses look the same but were not occupied. Don't know their fate, they are far enough removed from the beach that they may be on separate property.

roundtuit - 2-6-2007 at 08:03 PM

From what I heard the three houses on the point get to stay. All the palapas are gone or a pile of ruble. Anna's is on different property and the eljidos don't have control of that yet.Actually rumor has it that there is property next to anna's that is private but expensive

Yes, a bunch are already building substantial palapas on the northern part of Coyote bay, they are well on their way to completion.

Marina envy?

Sharksbaja - 2-8-2007 at 12:55 AM

oldhippie - 2-13-2007 at 07:25 AM

I was there earlier this month. We were told by a member of the ejido that the permanent structures are going because the ejido figures they can make more money selling stuff to travellers. The long termers were described as being, well, shall we say, very thrifty.

I dunno.

Looks to me like the water, power, and sewer infrastructure isn't there so any big development would be a Fonatur type project. Maybe another Loreto Bay. I read today that Citicorp just put up a lot of money for that project.

I found my new secret spot in the area. It's very nice. I ain't telling.

Yes real substandard..Cement floors, block, rock and wood strutures. Even running water and sewer:lol::lol::lol:

Lindalou - 2-16-2007 at 11:57 AM

Cement floors, block, rock, and wood strutures. Running water, sewer, microwaves, dishwashers, TV. Internet ect. are the same ones that had them at Santispac. Nothing new about that.

roundtuit - 2-16-2007 at 12:58 PM

Much better construction than on Santispac. And when I say running water and sewer, I mean large pila for all ( pvc buried in ground ) No more blue boys, full sewer lines in ground with septic system.
Substandard .:?::?::?::?:

Lindalou - 2-17-2007 at 08:59 AM

Most of the people I knew didn't even own a blue boy. It went straight to their so called septic in the ground. Should have moved to Cayote when we had the chance.:biggrin:
