I lurked for years- Something (doc) brought me out of the shadows.
The board contains a lot of valuable information.
The only bad tip was the baja vida in Santa Rosalia, but
The Tamales at Carmelita's more than made up for it.

I wish I was as baja'd as Dave K or POMPANO and others

I wish I could write as well as SEARAY (please come back)

This board has shed a lot of light on some very dark places
thanks to all.

The answer to that David is most likely an oversight (or looking at the time!) not quite awake.

Do you think the Road Conditions Forum will survive this dastardly deed?

Hello to all.

For me it wasn't hurricane John or any other natural disaster;D I have been reading and on a few occasions submitting posts on other sites which have seemed to go belly up over the years. I think this site has a lot of valuble info on it with many of the posters having years and years of baja experience. Like most forums it has it political B.S. on it but it hasn't taken down this forum yet and hopefully it wont. I have to admit one of my main reasons I signed on to this site is to give the wife peace of mind and the other reason is to share info. I mostly explore baja by myself with the company of my dog only cuz its hard to find people to comit as most of you prob. know. I often go to the most out of the way places to get a beach or estuary to myself,plus my dog is a bit of a romantic b-tch;)

With the times changing in baja I felt the need for my wife to have somewhere to go incase I don't show up back at home on time. As I get to know some of you I will be able to get info back to her or she could put out a distress on this forum to try to find me or maybe get some help to me if needed.

I will try to always be avalible to come to the rescue of any nomad in the time of need. David if there is a list you can put me on it.

I have been fishin baja inshore and offshore for about 25 years,I am 42. For many years my username has been fishtrapper but recently I gave that name up so a person in the tackle industry could use it for his company. I drive a black f-250 4x4 with a purple/pink stripe on it with a camper shell and I always have a dog. I am currently fishing from shore and a kayak but in the past I have had an 18' bayrunner and a sea doo that I did my fishin out of. In the recent years I have met a bunch of you at camp gecko as that was a favorite pit stop of mine. Its too bad Doc got rid of the campground but it makes perfect sense to me. I like to do longer trips 9-30 days but I am up for spur of the monent or even long weekend trips.

So without futher adoo I hope to meet more of you in the future and my next trip is to the gonzaga bay area. On 2-17-07 I plan on leaving san diego in the wee hours of the morning and I will check out El socorro,Papa Fernadez,El faro,Calamujue and who knows, I have 14 days to explore.

If any of you are in the area at that time and would like to meet I'd be up for that.

As you can tell I can't spell for #hit so intil I find spell check this is what you get:D

Have we met at Camp Gecko or someplace else? I see you are in Santee, which is where my lady has a home and also Baja Bernie lives nearby!

I am in Oceanside, and you should come by if you like Baja books and maps to plan explorations by...

I have posted on other web site forums and they remain nearly dead... People don't come back to check or respond to answers, information is lacking or removed mostly because their moderators are insecure and erase posts that mention Nomad, or their rules don't allow 'conversation'... even if about Baja.

Baja Nomad offers it all... good information, people who stick around and interact with you... and has a 'off topic' forum for those who want to argue about politics or non- Baja matters.

Doug did good when he welcomed the gang from Amigos de Baja after that forum retired in 2003.

Welcome all you newbies...reflecting on Steve's comments...I have been suggesting to all folks coming to visit us...as a safety precaution...that they email me when they leave and if they can from El Rosario or along the way, then call me from Vizcaino. If we can stay in touch, we can keep better track of them in case something happens and as well we take the names of next of kin so we can have a contact number in case of emergency. I think this is a good idea that we look after each other, particularly newbies who are more at risk. I know most have loosely structured plans for travelling Baja but with all the changes I think it's a good idea to try to keep in touch and have back up plans. If I stop posting...someone check to see we haven't fallen into the ocean!!

David I believe we have met at gekco. I work in Escondido so I could swing by some time and check out some maps and what not. I'm sure I will learn a whole bunch about mi baja.
I usually get off around midnight. That won't be a problem will it :o:lol:

of when I was a lurker and then a newbie. This was my first experience with forum participation, and I was very reluctant to participate because of all the backbiting and fighting going on (this was in 2004/2005). I definitely did not want to be classified as a chicken coop grouper, whatever that was. Bernie put out a call for the women on the board to join in, which was the invitation I needed. I didn't have much to contribute at that time, and I'm still a newbie when it comes to exploring Baja. What I would like to say is a great big thank you to Bernie for the invitation, and a great big thank you to whoever was responsible for setting up off topic. What I have found out from off topic is that I don't dry up and blow away when I am attacked. What I have found out from the regular forums is lots of useful info on Baja. Now I understand how a single woman can live and travel in Baja, something I could not fathom before Nomads. Best of all, it still seems new and exciting. Thanks to all of you who helped me become a Nomad! Zoe
