A better question might be "why"? It's not a particularly popular sailing area, really.
Maybe to welcome all the future sailors coming over on the land bridge?

I was there a few weeks ago. At that time the sails were a large welding project in progress that required a clasic misguided and unsigned mexican
detor. It also apeared that they were widening the main road through town, complete with 3 foot high cement pillars(for light poles?)
It appeared to me that all this would include a center median, and two lanes in each direction. I could be wrong...but they had enough land graded on
the west side of the road through town to put two extra lanes in.
Typical Mexican urban development.... San Quintin has a huge population and is located on a major transportation corridor; yet, they have no money or
influence... so they get a overloaded two lane road.
BOLA is in the middle of nowhere and has rich gringos, tourists, and real estate speculators.. so they get a 4 lane landscaped boulevard with all the
bells and whistles.
I'm sure there will be enough room for the dogs to sleep in a lane all to their own. Maybe they have plans to connect it with the "bridge to nowhere"

Listen, we all know that the economics of the land bridge is shakey at best, especially with the way fuel prices have risen since it was first
proposed. And the number of boaters who might venture down the coast all the way to Santa Rosalillita is much less than they are talking.
But let's not bag on this too hard. We're getting good roads outta this and maybe even F/T electricity to BOLA.
So what if no boats ever cross the land bridge.

Oh, I'm just an innocent bystander on this. I'm stateside. But I wouldnt mind seeing more places have F/T air in the hot months. I might actually
visit in July-Spetember.
