Ah La Ventana V

Diver - 2-14-2007 at 07:31 AM

Over two weeks in camp and we've gotten set into a nice routine; fishing in the morning (or all day when there's no wind), then sailing in the afternoons. Our kids have seen old friends and made new ones all over town.
Life is too easy here.
We will leave to begin the trip home at the end of the week and we're already having huge reservations about going back to the cold.
Just watched another sunrise and it looks like wind today so we will fish for only two hours this morning; ho hum.
We have gotten our share of Sierra with a few small yellowtail, a cabrilla and a few early season footballs (Skipjack Tuna). The waters are warming and the fish are coming !!
Last night was a sad/happy event as Lisa and Jerry anounced the end of their seasonal stays at the camprground. They are the true king and queen of La Ventana as they have spread funa and good vibes to all for years and years. They will be missed.
Yesterday we were surprised by a short visit from Iflyfish and Comitan con spousas. It was very nice to meet Comitan and hear of his adventures in the area before I knew La Ventana existed. Mr and Mrs Iflyfish have been a joy to see at almost every stop ! They are enjoying Baja and each other so much that their happy vibes spill over !
Looking forward to seeing Shari and Juan again in Asuncion next week but the thought of going home to the cold brings a black cloud to my brain.

Happy a safe trip home, I know what ya mean about going home to the cold, it is -38 here this morning, I would trade almost anything to be in Baja at this moment!!

Nice to see you again Diver.

It is a pleasure to put faces with the names on this list.

I hope we spend some more time with you up north with the whales!

If not then up the gorge!

I have enjoyed your accounts of your times at La Ventana. You and your family are a joy to spend time with.

Instead of making a left to La Ventana continue straight, through Los Planos. There is a good looking ramp at Bahia de los Suenos. I was touring the area earlier this month looking for places to launch my 23' Striper when I return in June and stumbled onto this ramp next to the Giggling Marlin Restaurant. I have no idea what the fees are, if any. Just saw it and tucked it away for future reference. Here is a shot of the ramp. It looks like low tide judging by the silt on the ramp.

Have a safe trip.:yes:Wouldn't get in a hurry. It's still winter up this way, haven't check the temp. Why bother? It hasn't been above somewhere in the 30's since Nov.

Actually I have been trying to collect pictures of Baja Launch Ramps. Others have written great articles on the subject already but like everything else in Baja, some things can change rapidly, other things will never change.

Just glad to share any info I have. Getting "current" info on this type of stuff can sometimes be hard to come by but so critical in planning your trip.

I think he is referring to Los Muertos where there is an imporved ramp at the bay/harbor near the clubhouse/land office. Also a landing strip nearby.
Following the road past Los Planos it will eventually dead end at the ramp.

That's the place but Bay of the Dead doesn't sell as well as Bay of Dreams
