We have decided to spend a couple of days recouping in Loreto. What a lovely town.
I noticed that they are setting up a carnival on the malacon. What's up. What's to see and what's not to miss in Loreto?
Suggestions for best sea food? Lobster?

Just read great reviews of Tacos El Rey and will give them a try. Cabesa tacos!!! Yum!!!!
Any suggestions for good lengua tacos in Loreto?

Go see our buddy Alejandro who has his tour office in the Hotel Juniper lobby, he can set you up for fishing too but can probably tell ya where those
scrumptious tongue tacos are...you nasty boy!

Eat at Cafe Mitas on the zocolo / town square. My fav. food in town. Yum, the Chicken and Shrimp brochettes... the Chicken Parmesian, the Shrimps

The best fish in town is cooked by Francisco at Islas Loreto (las Islas?) on the malecon a few doors north of Mediteraneo. There is a red palm tree
sticking out of the roof, you can't miss it. They are closed on Mondays. Some people will say that they are overpriced, but I think this isn't so.
Some may say that the waiters can be touchy. Maybe so, but the food is worth it, and Francisco is a great guy. I can't remember if they serve
lobster, but any seafood there is excellent. Salads-- excellent. Soups-- especially caldode mariscos-- excellent. Beef or chicken, nothing special.
I hope you have a great time here. Sorry to miss you, we are leaving tomorrow morning for San Jose del Cabo and La Paz-- maybe next time you come
through....

Vergines, it is wonderful and worth it if you want to splurge.
Shari, those tongue tacos have always appealed to me, now they are even more appealing knowing there is some lore about them. I look forward to
hearing about that! I know someone who loves fish eyes! Now what does that say about them??

Don't feel bad, terrible weather here today, had to turn on the A/C in the Coach. But the fireworks display over head compensated.
We are staying at the Riviera del Mar RV Park. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was good. They seem to cater to Norte's. I saw a ton of
hamburgers in various configurations with french fries. People said they were good. Another person had the chef salad, which they also praised. I had
shrimp,empanada style. there were a good number of medium sized shrimp, lightly dusted and pan fried. There was a hint of chili in the seasoning and
they were very sweet. I would order them again. I am considering asking her for some of this breading to dust on some venison backstrap that we will
prepare in the next day or so. Mrsfish had shrimp casadias that were loaded with small shrimp. There were three of them and one came home for a snack
tomorrow. The shrimp was fresh and delicious.
The breakfast menu includes waffles with sausage as well as pancakes. The kitchen is spotless and the cook seems to take pride in what she produces.
Very clean place and very conscientious people running it.

Forgot to mention the awesome cafe on the waterfront that has capuccino, espresso and whole wheat croissants, but go early cause they run out, I can't
remember the name of it but it's on a corner and some bungalows are kitty corner to it, I think it's the only cafe there....great breakfasts and
delicious coffee. Got any tongue lately amigo?

The breakfast / lunch / espresso, smoothies, and great sandwiches place on the Malecon is at Jordan. Good stuff!
Paula: Shing and I also love Islas. We've gotten to know owners Tom and Michelle, great friends and neighbors, and the wait staff have always
been friendly to us... even working to squeeze us in when they were quite busy (like just this last New Years Eve ! ).
And Fransisco's cooking is very fine!
Their prices are very fair. ( If you want to see EXPENSIVE, just take a gander at the menu at Medeterraneo. (sp?))
2 X 2 = 4 thumbs up for Islas from us too!

What is the story with the place next to Mita's. It is a date, which I cant remember...something like 1897. I looked at the menu which seemed
interesting, not cheap, not through the roof.
I ate at Mc Lulus and was sorely disappointed. My first visit and probably last.
My husband had fish tacos which has that over spiced breading and I had picadilia(I had never seen it spelled that way, should have been my first
hint) The meat tasted old...yuck.
Oasis has a nice breakfast right on the beach, service is spotty but you can entertain yourself gazing out into the sea as you wait. Very nice fruit
platter and eggs anyway you like them. Didnt care for the huevo ranchero...mild gringo-like ranchero.
I love Loreto, enjoy!

well you could meet flyfishinpam in my new place inside the plaza loreto hotel, and have a cappuccino while looking at my flies and watching my
husband mount 20 flyrods on the cieling. wasn't sure where to put 'em because I want to set them up with the reels, lines and flies but thought
people would be hooking themselves so above our heads and they're displayed and outta da way. not much fly fishing going on in the wind and swelly
seas but we're hoping anyway. just watched the (short) parade go by here, enjoy Loreto.

The restuarant on the Malecon is called Santa Lucia, the place next to La Mita is 1697. Yolanda at the Rivera del Mar RV park also has a great
breakfast menu, Madero just north of Padre Kino. The Crepe place next door to us is also excellent with Crepes, Quiche, Pizza.......For tacos only El
Rey!

Thanks for the input. We are at the Rivera Del Mar RV Park and I can second your recommendation of this place for breakfast. Mrsfish had the best eggs
benedict that she has ever had, the secret, a pinch of chili. This gal can cook!!! Yolanda is most gracious. I also had a lemonada that was wonderful,
ditto for her mocha made with Mexican chocolate. This place is clean as a whistle and is well managed and run. Mrsiflyfish also had the best fish
casadia and guacamole that she has ever had. It is obvioius that Yalonda's mother loves her food.
This is a great little town!!
