Hello. A couple of my girlfriends and I are looking at going on a girls get away to Canyon Guadalupe. I have been there once but with a larger
group. Are there any safety concerns we should be aware of as 3 ladies?
Thank you for any advice and info you can give us!

Good Luck and WELCOME to a great board. I'm sure you'll get some better answers then mine.

Welcome to Nomads.
There are some wonderful women on Nomads who have addressed this issue in the past. I am not certain of the links but maybe someone else can find them
for you. I hope some of them comment on your question.
Safety is important for all of us. I have found it helpful to do some reading about Mexico and it's culture. An excellent book is "There is a word for
it in Mexico". Another Nomad recommended it to me and it has been invaluable
So has "A Peoples Guide to Mexico". There are chapters in that book devoted to the issue of safety.
Learn some Spanish. Make an effort. Mexican people really appreciate your taking the time to demonstrate that you are trying to learn their language.
Don't drive after dark.
Stay places where there are other gringos.
Don't do drugs. Get stoned at home if you need to.
Don't drink too much. Stay aware of your surroundings.
There is safety in numbers. There are three of you.
That is my advice to you.
Now, having said that, ENJOY!! Mexico is a wonderful place and Baja is one of it's jewels. The Mexican people are some of the most hospitable and
hellpful people in the world. Enjoy them, they will enjoy you.
Families are important in Mexico. Pay attention to mothers and their children. Interact with mothers and their children. This will open doors for you.
Mexicans love to help. Don't be afraid to ask people if this or that place is safe. There are young women in Mexico who will love to talk with you and
practice their English. Make friends with them.
Thats all I have. Enjoy.

Why are you are assuming that she is Polish!!!!
Maybe Polish isn't her nationality or background. Maybe she polishes nails in a Nail Salon or polishes cars at a Car detailing business!!! ...LOL

I have always travelled with my husband to Baja, but there have been times when he has gone diving, and I have been left on my own. I have never felt
affraid. Use your head, be nice, and have a wonderful time.

Deborah has driven up and down Baja a few times, solo. Use your head, dress down and be cool.......
A great place to be!

In addition to the good advice above,
-Tell friends/family when you're going to leave, where you are going and when you expect to return.
Happy trails!

You might also wish to meet a couple of Nomads in the area ~ that you can check in with and check out with.... Not paranoidly (new word...), just
generally a good idea anytime you're in uncharted areas / off the grid for a time. It is always nice to have a reassuring phone number in your pocket
if you need it. Plus you might make some new friends
There are many great folks on this board who would help in an instant if you had any troubles ! Most Nomads have experienced the kindness of the
Mexican people, and of fellow Nomands during difficult times, and understand this type of kindness and concern for others.
I'm one of those folks who've been offerred a hand of kindness when everything seemed to be going to pot... And Shing and I met a guardian angel one
trip down the peninsula who we'll never forget !
Have a great trip !

Hello Fellow Baja Nomads!
Thanks for all of your responses. It is true. I am Polish! Are there any of you out there that are in the Canyon Guadalupe area that want to share
numbers? It is good to know a few other kindred spirits in case of emergency. If you don't mind sharing please U2U me. Also, you would be welcome
to swing in for a beer. We are going out Feb. 28.
Thanks.

Hello Polishgirl,
I have been to Canyon Guadelupe on "Girls only" trips several times and never had any reason to worry about safety. As others suggested already, use
common sense.
Arturo is very nice, in fact he bailed us out once when our car battery unexpectedly went dead while we were camping there. No problem for him, he
came up with a spare battery in a wheelbarrel and gave us a jumpstart.
You are going to have a great time!
