I will be returning from Gonzaga on April 7th and am tired of the San Fielpe madhouse I was thinking of staying in Mexicali. I have seen many hotels in Mexicali on Justo Sierra just before the border. Does anyone have any recomendations for hotels? I will traveling with my family and have a dog.. thanks

Hotel Lucerna is located on Benito Juarez #2151, Hotel Araiza located at Benito Juarez Blvd #2220, Araiza Inn Califia located at Justo Sierra #1495, Crowne Plaza located at Lopez Mateos at Ave. de Los Heroes near Centro Civico, Colonial located at Lopez Mateos #1048, and the Fiesta Inn located at Lopez Mateos #1029. I have stayed in all of these except the Fiesta Inn, Araiza (both of them) and they were good. Hotel Lucerna I like the best as it has a lot of old charm to it. Now, like anything in Mexico the dog can probably go to most of these but they will probably charge more. Now, most of these will charge you right now about $90 to $110, so right across the border in Calexico at the edge of town as you leave the old port entry in Calexico is a new Best Western and a new Holiday Inn. These hotels in Calexico do allow dogs as I have seen people leaving with them. They are both by the new Dennys and the new Applebees off of Hwy. 111 that takes you to Interstate 8 freeway one way to San Diego the other to Yuma. Hope this helps and remember if you have AAA all of these hotels even Mexico gives you about 10% off. When you cross at the old port in Calexico back into the USA go about two blocks turn at the Pep Boys Sign to your right and go another block to Burgers and Beer and get the best hamburger or chicken sanwich you can get anywhere. Later-------bajafun777
