what establishment am i leaving?

Crusoe - 3-2-2007 at 11:20 AM

It really makes sense......Because there is so many little places for mice, rats and little birds and snakes to hide and live, that the Osprey could be right on top of many great meals very quickly.

bajaandy - 3-2-2007 at 03:30 PM

Well, it's you woody, so the establishment must be a cervesaria or cantina, but I'm just not sure of the location.....

Osprey

Osprey's other name is fish hawk, and mice, etc. don't interest them at all.

andy.....

good to here from ya! i don't know if you meant it as a compliment, but i accept although you are incorrect. i thought that the folks who live /frequent the area would recognize it, but it seems i was wrong....i'll give it another day.

hint....i'll bet 80% of the folks here who have past this place have sat in my exact spot for the foto at one time or another.

I've seen Ospreys with snakes cooking on the tops of cardons many times. Fish aren't the only item on their menu, at least with the birds we've seen. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

Ospreys are aggressive raptors. First of all opurtunists. Mostly observed along inland waterways and like high nests. Part of the name Fishhawk comes from behavior patterns. They sometimes can be observed near remote mt. ranges or in inland desert regions scavanging very much like other raptors far from the sea. They are all good at riding and gliding on wind zephyers and thermals effortlessly. Beautiful to watch, especially after they have landed a big catch between their talons, that is as big as they are. Most make long migrations in winters and return to birthplace and same nest year after year.Another amazing creature on this beautiful planet.:o:o

there is a mating pair here near sea world. they can be seen sitting on the lamp posts on the bridge crossing the san diego river at robb field at the end of interstate 8. i started noticing them 3 years ago and they are here year-round/

Woody,

It was indeed a compliment, but I have no clue where that photo was taken. I'm waiting to see who wins so I can learn the answer.

the establishment i'm refering to is the pemex just south of mulege. as you pull out towards the hiway, there is the nest.
