I used to go every year when I lived in So. CA. It's a great show and good deals abound and you can find specialty items that are hard to find in
most sports supply shops. they have a show here in DC but what a disappointment after Fred Hall.Alan - 3-5-2007 at 07:52 AM
I've been going for more years than I can remember and I still go to drool over the new equipment but it has been several years since I have seen any
real deals there. Today's show is a far cry from what it used to be. Unfortunately I have found that the only way to really save money there now is
to not buy anything. I've been doing much better just searching out "Specials" during the year.Paulina - 3-5-2007 at 08:47 AM
It's going to be a girl's trip to Fred Hall for me and Cody this year. We are aiming for Sunday. Dern's going to the Score Tecate 250 with the boys.

I'm going again. I don't expect to find good deals on prices, but it's fun and a good place to see lots of stuff in one place. Sometimes if you see
something you want to buy ,it's better to buy elsewhere. Some stuff at the hall show is only displayed there.
So, if it's terminla tackle you're looking for, I hear there will be a sale at Yo's Custom Tackle, in Gardenia.
We're getting a new boat down here and are looking for boat stuff too. And there are some interesting seminars. Sometimes you can get some caps or
Tshirts with your purchases. And I'll renew my UASC membership and get a free pass.SoCalAl - 3-5-2007 at 10:12 AM
I haven't missed a show since 1985 or something like that. I used to be a teen when I started going. I agree with some that it isn't what it used to
be. Deals were to be had back then, I mean $10 to $20 dollar jigs for a buck or two and hooks, man a dime a dozen, literally... I used to enjoy the
show back then cause you could talk to the folks and have a good conversation, now it is difficult to find someone who just wants to share fishing.
Everyone is out for the $$$ and that's that. I used to run into folks who after speaking with them "INVITED" you to come and join them on a fishing
trip. Now it's like if you want I gen sign you up for a private tour$$$$ cha-ching???
Well I guess all really good things have to come to an end, you have got to admit though, it is still a good show to go to and get up to speed
with the new gadgets and stuff. If you look hard enough there are still some good deals, especaily on the first and last day of the show. I plan to
be there WEdnesday, God willing. Otherwise, I will take the kids on Saturday and let them catch a corn trout,

4baja... You'll have to beat me for that Davis boat! HA! I got my raffle tickets a couple of months ago. I know the odds a slim, but you can't beat
the fact that the $ goes to a good cause.
As for the show... yeah, it's fun to drool over the new stuff, but I don't see any real deals. Maybe I'm just not a good enough shopper. But I love
to go and see all the gear, and I love taking my son to enjoy it too.
See you on the last day of the show at Del Mar for that boat drawing!!!4baja - 3-5-2007 at 08:05 PM
will be down wensday with a few buddys AL, will look for you.55steve - 3-6-2007 at 07:24 PM
It's getting tough for the vendors to offer any real deals anymore since the cost of space there is mucho $$$ compared to what it was.Hook - 3-6-2007 at 08:17 PM
What's an admission ticket cost this year?
I'll be around on Friday. Meeting the new owner of Allcoast at lunch that day.BajaNomad - 3-6-2007 at 09:12 PM
In '96 I was looking to buy a shell for the back of my '95 Tacoma - and the manager at Mother Truckers in Midway City told me they had special prices
at the FH show that he couldn't give me at the shop - and that I should come down to see him at the show if it was of interest to save a couple
hundred dollars (or so).... and I took him up on the suggestion and enjoyed meeting a lot of Baja folks in the process of walking around the Long
Beach show.

If you can make LB it is twice the show that Del Mar is but of course its also quadruple the crowd. But I'm such as fishing junkie I usually end up
at both each year.4baja - 3-8-2007 at 07:40 AM
had a great trip down to the fred hall show yesterday comeing home with my hands and backpack stuffed with goodies. there are deals to be had but you
really need to search them out. my favorite (cork handle) cal-star jig sticks wear going for anywere between 140.00 to 180.00 depending were you
looked. allso lots of iron to choose from but take your time as prices varied. and if you want a beer (beers) then get your wallet out as they are
7.50 apiece and thats for a bud in a reg. plastic cup. a guy in front of me dropped his jaw to the ground when he bought a mixed drink with a few xtra
shots in it and it was 17.00 bucks. it was fun listening to the responces from the guys in front when they were told how much the beer was. allso dont
forget your ID as they dont care weather you look a 100 you will not get served without it. tight lines.
