How about an update on the progress of the new marina? Maybe a pic or two?

Will there be a launch ramp?

Hey Hook
The marina was supposed to push through to the sea Mar 20 but some gov't agency has put that on hold for at least 2 months. From what I understand, there is a problem with the marina not lining the bottom of the marina to prevent salt water from contaminating all the wells in the area. If you could see all the water that they pump out everyday, you would wonder if there is any water left to worry about. I dont know details and this is all hearsay.
What I do know is that all of a sudden, the work has almost stopped.
My understanding is that there will be a launch ramp.
The new cross has been installed. In my opinion, it is ugly. Looks like a heavy metal cross. The locals are saying that it is the dagger that the marina people have put into the heart of La Playa and its people. It is 25 meters high and will be the navigation aid for coming into the marina. I understand that it will be very well lit. You can see it from way up the East Cape road.
I will have to take some pix. Will post them later.

I love the fatalistic symbolism of the Mexican people; the dagger in the heart of La Playita. Very visual. :smug:

Thanks for the info.

FYI. La Playita is the small beach where the pangas take off. The village is called La Playa.

Thank you for correcting me. I am sure I would have referred to the entire area from Punta Palmilla to the estero as La Playita and would have appeared to be just another dumb gringo.

Well, I guess I was!

Just noticed today that they are putting in a ramp in the area where the pangas will be...close to the sea and the northern jetty.
