Capt George.....whose/which property did you buy? This is IMPORTANT....I gotta know where I'll be doing my dishes & laundry...and how soon! I guess my laundry & dishes will just have to wait while you build, huh?? Welcome to my FORMER neighborhood!:bounce:

Alan - 3-9-2007 at 09:35 AM

Congratulations! I didn't think you were going to go through the construction hassle. I'm about to close on the condo for now but find a good builder so I can use him when I'm ready to do my lot.

comitan - 3-9-2007 at 12:28 PM

just spoke to an archatect..showed me his work really nice.

legs it's just up the street from wiley opposite side.. has a nice palapa and a shower/pool house orange wall partial with black driveway gates know it?

you'll have to wait on the pool dishes will be going in hot tub, more sanitary!

I've got a builder who has extensive experience building with foam....speaks English....amazingly, his mental approach to construction (do it well & right the first time) parallels mine!! But his contact information is SECRET until MY place gets off the ground!:lol::lol:

longlegsinlapaz - 3-10-2007 at 07:52 PM

Capt George....the small lot right next to Bob & Ginny? I did a drive by today! So yeah, I know where it is! :bounce:

LOng legs email me-- I'm looking to break ground in about 12 months or so and really want to use the tri-d stuff.. Thanks

Ricardo - 3-11-2007 at 08:24 PM

If his name is Pepe steer clear as he ripped us off.
We built in La Paz ( still finishing) My brother is finishing it off , the only bad experience was the general contractor, He showed us some nice work that he was finishing, spoke english, had training in the States.
He ripped us pretty good. The local Mexicans ( who didn't speak english) came through and finished it.

longlegsinlapaz - 3-11-2007 at 09:33 PM

His name isn't Pepe!!!! I wouldn't recommend anyone unless I have personal knowledge of their work, ethics & philosophy towards customer service & takes pride in making sure the quality & attention to detail is outstanding!!!

Don't, under any circumstances, hire a contractor just because he or she can speak English. Liars are not particular about the language they tell their lies in. If you should run into an experienced foam contractor who prefaces every other sentence with, "To be perfectly honest . . . ," grab your wallet, hide the women and run like hell the other way. Alan Watts used to say that "Alaska is the northern end of the schizophrenic escape route." And Baja is the southern end. Remember that the Baja is full of freaks, flakes and con artists who have worn out their welcome everywhere else -- and not all of them are selling time shares in Cabo. We used to have a restauranteur in La Paz who, when asked why he was in the Baja, replied, "The warrants." At least he was honest, but he too left a bad smell behind him when he screwed his business partners and split town. Damn shame too, because the food was good. :D:D

My key point....over & above the fact he speaks English, was...."his mental approach to construction (do it well & right the first time) parallels mine!!" I agree; never hire anyone for the sole reason that they speak English! As with anything of this financial magnitude, choices should be made on well-researched, all-encompassing & intelligent thought processes.

How long do you think I'd maintain my credibility if I gave my personal recommendation on "freaks, flakes and con artists who have worn out their welcome everywhere else"????? :(:(

George,

Congrats on your lot purchase in La Paz. Would be honored to buy you a beer next time we get down that way. Sorry we didn't get to be neighbors in Punta Chivato.

We heard there's good furniture shopping to be had in La Paz. Not to mention a good restaurant too!

Good Luck and try the Chinese Place upstairs on Sept. 16th about 2 blocks up from the Beach. Try the White Wine- Its Carlo Rossi!

And do take Deb down to the Malacon for the best Ice Ream in Baja.

Skeet/Loreto!

bajajazz - 3-20-2007 at 01:04 AM

". . . the best Ice Ream in Baja . . . " ???

Is that how you get hemorrhoids or how you get rid of them?

Skeet/Loreto - 3-20-2007 at 07:24 AM

Jazz: Our good Departed Amigo "Tucker" started correcting my spelling a couple of years ago, so join the Crowd, you are in good company!!

George; Think that you are really going to like La Paz. Glad to hear that Jesse has a Great Place. If you want a Hamburger, there use to be a place out west on the Beach Hwy that catered to lots of Americanos and had a great Burger.

Remember our good Friend Miguel when you start to Build-He is a good Connection.
