I had occation to drive the new pavement this past weekend while checking out some other stuff.
As you approach from the north you come to the long straight area which is the drainage area of the Matomi.
They have a sign posted area of VADOS.
The first time you cross this area be VERY CAREFUL.
There are many vados 10 to 15 that are dangerous.
The are 15 to 25 MPH vados.
The pavement is already gouged from trailers and trailer hitches.

There are a few of those near the Percebu and Bahia Santa Maria turnoffs, too!
I don't know why they didn't engineer this section of Highway 5 to be a 'highway', but it isn't for high speed driving! So, even though almost all the
55 miles to Puertecitos is well paved, don't plan on it being just a 1 hour drive, because you can't average 55 mph with so many places you have to
slow down to 15 mph for the steep dips...
