Hello everyone, we will be taking our annual La Paz trip this year in the beginning of July and it's looking like we will have some additional time
this year to do a little exploring. We will most likely have about 5 extra days and I was looking for some ideas of where to go and stay during that
time. Grandma who is 75 will be with us so camping is not in the cards this time. We also have a 5 year old. We haven't done much east cape venturing
so I was looking for some advice of "must see's/must go's......beaches are definately our thing....and somewhere with comfortable accomodations.......
hotel, house rental? Also, will it be brutally hot/humid the first 2 weeks of July? We usually come in May so we're not sure what to expect! Many

Marla, remember it is stinking hot that time of year on the gulf side...OK if you want to spend all day in an air conditioned room. NOt to brag but
here in Asuncion is lovely as we have the pacific breezes to keep us cool...even granny will love it and wee one will love the beach. Check it out.

What happened to the Nice Shari? This new one seems greedy and short sighted. She must not remember she has lots of Nomad friends who get along just
fine in the stinking heat near the waters of the Gulf of California -- they have grandmas and grandkids who visit them and like their beaches just
fine.

The first 2 weeks in July are hot ,but really not bad. The real humidity doesn't really get here till the second half of July and won't leave us till
the middle of October. Lots of great places to visit with La Paz as your starting point. Ventana,East Cape, Cabo Pulmo, Todos Santos come to mind.

Make sure that granny gets lotsa liquids and you will be just fine.
The kid too....heck all of y'all. I carry a thermos of cold water with me at all times during those months.
I would try to get out of the city of La Paz....it can be brutal in town while the beaches might have a breeze .

Why don't you spend a few days up at Hotel Punta Pescadero?? It's hot at that time of year but I always loved it up there. Great beach, rooms, pool,
service, food, etc, que mas quieres???

great rooms just six of them
free kayaks, coral reef, good cooking, great hospitality.
They can provide for some campers.
A family favorite- we usually go for three of four nights and then to a hotel with a pool for three or four nights.
The road out there is now paved
July is not as hot as august and september

OMG, sorry about that everyone...I just got back from a VERY hot 3 days in Sta.Rosalia and was really not liking the gulf side one bit and in a nasty
mood to boot....I do not like the heat and find the gulf way too hot in the summer...it was one of those IMHO things and I will take back the stinking
heat bit and replace it with...I cannot go to the gulf side at all in the sumer as it is too darn hot for ME...I LOVE La Paz and it's my favorite
place on the gulf side by far and you are right that it might be bearable at that time (for some). I just don't see the point of going on a holiday
and having to stay in an air conditioned room inside to be comfortable. Gee I've never been called greedy or short sighted before...but ya know I know
LOTS of Nomads who cant' take the heat over there and are coming over to the pacific side for the summer...wonder why? Msrla was asking about heat and
it was just my opinion that it is too hot for me...sorry all you heat lovers on the gulf I did not intend to offend anyone...just let the nomad know

Hey guys, I thank you all, and I'm open to all advice/suggestions. We're used to being in La Paz in May which can be up in the 90's...some folks have
told me that it's about that in the beginning of July, and since we are beach people and in the water most of the time, that kind of heat doesn't
bother us...it's just those sweaty humid late summer days that I hope to avoid... I'm enjoying the advice you all are giving me and I appreciate all
of it!

. Did you know that years ago almost all of the East
Cape resorts closed during July and August because of the heat? That was pre air conditioning, of course. I discovered Hotel Punta Pescadero about
thirty years ago because of that fact. We tried to book a trip to Rancho Buena Vista in August, realized it was closed, tried a few others, all
closed, finally came across this one place, Punta Pescadero, that was open. We went, loved it, and it became one of our favorite Baja places.

We stayed at Club Cantamar when we were in La Paz and thought it was great. Nice place to eat right there and not far from some really cool playas.

Try Casa Verde B&B in La Ventana.
The owners are friends from Washington and they have at least 2 AC units on the beach. It's about 40 minutes southeast of La Paz.
Great snorkeling at the old Las Arenas Hotel just past Los Planos.

Casa Verde looks lovely, and so does El Cardonal.....is El Cardonal's accomodations air conditioned??? What about the Cabo Pulmo area, is it strictly
camping?
Could anyone here possibly know of maybe a house rental somewhere coastal?? East Cape or Todos Santos area?

A drive up into the Sierra La Laguna... One road is between San Antonio and San Bartolo, signed San Antonio de la Sierra... It passes near the oldest
mining center in Baja (Real de Santa Ana) and climbs up to a grove of Guerivo trees... here mixed in with palms:
On the San Antonio de la Sierra road, giant 'guerivo' trees are encountered (among palms) near 3,000 feet ASL. Its hard wood is used to make furniture
and the first ship in (Baja) California. Built in 1719 by Padre Ugarte was the 'Triunfo de la Cruz'.This site is just west of Los Barriles!
