Very nice, did you take them in black and white or did you convert them?

tripledigitken - 3-22-2007 at 06:45 PM

Ken and Cardon,

Thankyou for the comments. They are digital images converted to BW in Photoshop and Nik software. I haven't used my 35 MM film camera in over 10 years.

Nice Ken

Hard to mistake looking into the mouth of Conception Bay in the first photo. One of my favorite views. The guy tossing the cast net looks remarkably like my neighbor Jim.

My wife and I call the memorial you shot "Hector rides on" . Some one no doubt misses him very much.

Black and white adds a timeless effect that suits much of Baja perfectly don't you think?

Bajalero,

I agree about the view down Conception Bay. We will be lucky enough to have that view everyday when we retire. We have just bought a lot about 1 mile down the beach from where that photo was taken and plan to build in 2-3 years.

The subject is Jim. He lives in Punta Chivato and San Diego. Is he the same Jim?

I agree about the Black and White complimenting Baja Subjects completely.

Thanks for the comments.

Great stuff, Ken. I really like the San Borja one a lot. Lot of potential with that mission. It seems to be a great subject for black and white.

Funny, I was just checking out Walker Evans work at Barnes and Noble last night. That Hector shot is very much in his style.

Ken - I'm so glad you posted these... really I do like 'em a lot! You know I'm a fan of that 'Making Bait' shot... but this time I especially like the wine barrels. They seem just perfect in b&w. Wonder what they'd look like in sepia tones. Thank you - mucho.

Nena,

Ask and ye shall receive. Not quite sepia but close.

Ken, absolutley love these shots in B&W. I really like the making bait shot, which shows action.... you can see the swirl of water his foot made as he lunged forward to throw his net! Fantastic!

Thank you Ken, for that second offering of the wine barrels - it's really lovely. I like it very much. I assume that is the original (color) photo? If not, how did you do that?
