A walk in my Ensenada neighborhood is always interesting for me. First I see each morning is the Paulownia Tree in glorious bloom:

From a block away I smell the chocolate from the fountain. We can have bananas or marshmallows covered in chocolate and rolled in an assortment of nuts and candies.

Paulina... I KNOW you have lots of fun photos from your time in Baja even if you're not there today. I'd love to see you post some of 'em.

And yeah, Igor, I'm having a real good time - and vastly improving my language skills. At last I'm begun to stop translating in my head and begin actually thinking in espanol... and I'm ever so proud of that! And you also - how about posting a couple of your favorite shots?

I took a hike earlier this morning up the coast road overlooking Coyote camping beach. The photo below shows what it looks like today. I will post some more from the same overlook as the Easter crowds arrive. A good 'before and after' series for you.

Also I love the Guadalupe Valley shot - those pots create such an unusual foreground for the tierra hermosa. Wonderful photos - thanks!

'arana culogrande'... don't suppose that translates to 'one big friggin' spider'?

(Dean Miller..as Jake was in your family, this is especially for you.)

Jake was /is one of many Baja early americano figures. I knew him since the first day I arrived in the Bay..and there is no chance I will ever forget him. We had some times!!

Here is a photo taken this morning of Jake's Place on the hillside overlooking Coyote Bay.

Since Jake's passing, his friend Steve is residing there and keeping up their common love of Baja. Jake and Steve also had bikes in common...Jake riding his BMW many times around the continent, while Steve 'peddles' his almost daily back and forth to Mulege..about a 35 mile round trip. This hombre has stamina plus!

Rest in peace, Jake. Welcome, Steve.

"Araña Culogrande" could be translated as big-a$$ spider but someone is pulling someone's leg. An ironing board is simply called a "burro". :lol:

Thank you Amir, you are most kind. I have so much fun with photos - those that others post and taking those that I post. As I recall, you have a fair talent youself in that arena.

I wasn't pulling anyone's anything... an ironing board is called quite simply, as oso said, an burro de planchar. When I asked Magda if that really meant ironing a$$, she said yes it most definitely did. And that's when I laughed myself silly. :biggrin:
