This web site will get additions once Jack is back in La Paz. You may know Jack took most of the great photos in my Baja Misions web site. Here are some non-mission Baja historic sites: http://community-2.webtv.net/DrDrip/swords

Hey Dave-

I explored this area a while back as well. It's an amazing area that I'd like to check out again. Thanks for the reminder.

Jack took a photo of Jimmy Smith at Real de Santa Ana last year... I just added it.

DAVID K, I have a question, was the oar that was mined sent to La Paz and then to Muertos Bay or was it mined and sent straight to Muertos for shipping.

The silver was shipped to La Paz originally ($50,000/month in 1874). Later, the Boleo Company (of Santa Rosalia fame) tried to start up operations (after the mines mostly closed in 1918). Boleo developed the port at Los Muertos in 1924, but abandoned the silver mine project two years later.

The above data is from the Lower California Guidebook. Perhaps Jack Swords has more details... I am off to Baja today. Bye!
