We did a similar trek two weeks ago with 4 wheelers
and went to San Ignacio Lagoon where they are truly friendly,

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words. I've been down there several times and I have other trip reports from the other visits.
I've been to San Ignacio; the time I was there the whales were not quite as friendly as in Scammon's Lagoon, but I think it has more to do with the
time of year rather than the location. I've found that when you visit near the end of the whales' stay (late March or April) the whales are
friendlier than if you see them in January. By the end of their time in Mexico, they are more used to people (at least I think that is what is
occurring).

You are tempting me to go buy a bike and take off. The last one I owned was a 1964 Triumph Bonneville (and it was almost new).
If I followed your time line correctly it seems you bought the single jug Kawasaki after buying the new Triumph. Why so? You seemed to love the new

Actually, I bought the Kawasaki first, and then a few months later I bought the Tiger. They are both great bikes. Last year I sold my Harley, my
Daytona, and my TL1000S. I always wanted both the KLR and the Tiger. Both great bikes, and I've had both on trips in Mexico. Right now, the KLRs
are a tremendous deal. Kawasaki is changing them a bit after 21 years of nothing but paint scheme changes, and the dealers are selling brand new 2007
KLRs for about $4500. Several people have taken them on trips around the world. Another great motorcycle is the DL650 Suzuki V-Strom; I'd like to
get one of those someday, too, but right now with two dual-sport bikes I am really pretty well set up.

The Tiger looks nice, but what about finding parts? I researched a bit about the KLR 650. The 2008 model will have a suspension more suited for the
road. They have reduced the travel both front and rear. The engine will still be carburated not fuel injected. It doesn't look to have any major new
components such as inverted forks or fancy frame. The new fairing looks worse in my opinion. I wish I had the money to buy an 2007 KLR 650 and the
