Frames?

Surfers, can you help me? A Jack Johnson song goes:

"slow down everyone you're moving too fast
frames can't catch you when you're moving like that...."

Is frame a surfing term?:?: What does it mean?

Paula, that's "dames", not frames.

Actually I have no clue.

before brushfire fairytales jack made surf films

a frame is part of a film

it is one of the several single images that make a motion picture

the frames are separated by frame lines

nothing to do with surfing

Thanks Bob and Susan! My daughter and I had wondered about that line months ago. Neither of us thought of motion picture frames.

Interesting that frames is just one letter removed from Frambes:biggrin:

actually,

"A" frames - as in the shape of roof line of a house. usually found at beachbreaks, when someone describes "A frames" in relation to surfing they mean large peaks and rapidly slope-ing (sp?) shoulders on a wave.

imagine a wave:

also along the same note, means a wave that peaks in the center and breaks both L and R

on a latitude 32 show interview…

jack stated he wrote this song while he was still in college.

in one class for movie production they learned about bruce lee and how he moved too fast for the camera.

it always looked as if they used special effects on him, so the director had to tell him to slow down.

he had an assignment to write a paper, but didn't want to write it, so he was goofing around

the line "slow down everyone, you're moving too fast"
was…
"slow down bruce, you're moving too fast"

this was reference to how bruce lee had to slow down his fighting moves because he was moving too fast for the camera to catch it...in the frames!!!

the reference is to moviemaking…not surfing
good try wood-man

Sometimes it takes longer to figure out the meaning of the words.

Jackson Brown, "Rosie" from Runnin' on Empty comes to mind. :saint::saint::lol:
