While searching the DMV files to personalized my platesbajacat I was a little :fire:

to find out that somebody in the greather state of CA has this plates allready.If you know this person or you are this person I will like to buy them from you.Also bajakatwas taken allready,the only one left is BAHACATlooking for your help for a Baja related name for my rig(2004 RAM)..thanks guys.

i had personalized plates way back (can't reveal the name for potential business concerns) and i still have the plate that went on the back. it's been 16 years since i paid for the last plate.

without losing hours off work, does anyone know if i can apply to re-activate my old personalized plate?

Woody, as I understand it... you will need to pay for the years since it was inactive last... If anyone can verify, that would be appreciated.

CAT, I think your 'why?' is why did I let it expire???

Well... it has to do with wife #1 keeping the Subaru that had those plates on it after we split in 1993... That was the beginning of my 6 year 'dry-spell' of no 4WD and only one Baja trip!

When she wore out the Subaru and traded it in, she took off the plates and kindly gave them to me for sentimental reasons.

Hearing that one had to pay for the unused years, I decided not to re-activate the plates when I got my '01 Tacoma... and pay the additional $35? a year for them. Maybe I will one day, if I still can???

Why not just try to apply for the plate again..........if it has not been issured they just might re-issue it to you...............my plates are...........MIBAJA after my first book and I plan on keeping them...............I think David is very sorry that he dropped his.

In Nevada, I believe that if you let the personalized plate lapse for 18 months, it's up for grabs

i kind of agree with bajacat that once they issue a plate, they won't re-issue to someone else. what if i, after 16 years became a bank robber and used my old plates and they were reported? would the new owner then get in trouble, even though the plates are old/new style it would create a problem....

I read--can't remember where--that "Baja" appears on more personalized plates issued by California's DMV than any other combination of letters. Anybody know if that's true?

I Have experienced the situation discussed (disuse of Personal Plates).

After transferring a particular plate to numerous vehicles over the years, it ended up on a pickup truck which I non-opped for many years before junking it. After a numer of years, I was sent a notice that I needed to pay a reservation fee if I wished to maintain those plates. I didn't pay the fee and I took the old plates off when I got rid of the truck. A couple of years later, I bought a new truck and considered going to the DMV to see if I could reactivate those plates. To my surprise, I found that the combination was no longer on the used list and was again available as a NEW combination. As a result, I simply filed a new request and was issued the plates again.

they ask you what type of vehicle in the dmv form. your options are car,comercial,etc.in what category a truck fits, I thought all trucks fall under commercial

Thanks for the motivation guys. I might have never gotten around to it if it wasn't for this thread.

It does say that you have to pay $30 per year if vehicle goes non op or if you want to keep plates.

Get a license plate frame that says 'Baja Kat' or 'Baja Cat' so people will know the plate doesn't mean Katie.

You know David I do not know?, let me talk to the superintendent, to see whats a possible date.Our company as nothing to do with the inside job.we only doing the street project to bring water to the site,and a preassure reducer station and thats it, the only thing I know is half of the site allready has water,sewer and stormdrain allready install. pretty much the will open old grove when most of the site is developed,right now is at 40% donne.I will call you in your cell to see what day is good for you (afther monday)..

I will finally be able to pick my personal plates at the DMV torrow. Afther waiting for them for 8 weeks they are finally here,it's going to be whale tale with BAJA KT ON IT. To bad somebody allready has BAJACAT personal plates also BAJAKAT was taken too. :no:

.So BAJA KT is going to have to do, untill they released BAJACAT I will be cheking time to time... :lol:

to see if I can get my hands on them,E-bay allready as a Bajacat so I wasn't able to claim that one ither..

So for my next trip down Baja I will be sporting my Brand new plates.. :bounce:
