DK - How far have you gone west past the mines in your truck? Made it through to hwy 1 or is that route still at the 'looks do-able on GoogleEarth' stage?

Just curious. Have overnighted and hiked up from the pools/arrastra area but never driven much past the pools.

Greetings Jay, Glad to see you are showing interest in this area. Since you have been there, what do think of our chances of pushing some 4x4s (large BRONCO size) cages thru that area in either direction?? >>> The goal is to connect M1 to M5. >>> Would you be interest in joining such a trek??? >>> Regards, sq.

Hi Jay,

I have driven only to the green pools (last in 2002) and then hiked to the turquoise mine (last in 1975).

M/Cs go often from below the mine to the grade and up to Hwy. 1. See posts by DEVEAU.

The only question is the lower half of the grade (beyond where I hiked last February) and the ease of driving a four wheeler between the grade and the turquoise mine/ green pools.

With a few rocks pushed over the edge, the upper half of the grade will be no problem for us.

Maybe make a long weekend out of it?:light:

Here is the view looking west from the mine towards the bottom of the grade...
