Strange crossing---

DianaT - 4-27-2007 at 02:26 PM

We crossed into Tijuana early Sunday morning. Only a few cars were crossing, but everyone was directed through secondary.

However, the people stopping the cars did not look like customs---didn't really check out the uniforms well. They were not interested in what we were carrying, seemed more interested in who we are?

Just curious if anyone knows what this was all about? It was no problem and they were very polite---took only a minute or two

We crossed early in the morning (4:30am) a month ago and same thing. I just figured less bodies working so easier to control the traffic.

During the early morning hours until 5:30 or 6am they always close the road so that everyone has to go through secondary. Even though you are forced to drive through the secondary lanes you only have to stop for inspection if you got a red light when you entered mexico. I used to live near tijuana and when I was crossing in the early morning they did inspections in the far left secondary lane only. Everyone that did not get a red light would drive through the far right lane without stopping.

Thanks

I guess while we always intend to cross that early, we have overslept in the past. :tumble:

We got the green light and didn't realize until already there we were in the red light lane---no real inspection, guess they just thought we were a couple of not so bright old people.

As tjvagabundo said, it's the way it works very late at night or you could say early in the morning till 6am.
