Buena Vista Spa Resort

OK... I've done the search and (I admit to having a couple of cerveza's) I need some help and advice.
Girlfriend (wrk...fellow nomad) and I have decided to go and explore the east cape BUT we also would like a bit of pampering!!!! We have heard of the Buena Vista Spa but I am getting 2 different places when I do a search. Can anyone give some recommendations?? We would like a pool and hot tub. (fabulous food and maggies as well!) Our plan is to spend 2 nights (leaving from TS) and then pick the esposo up at the airport on our way back to TS. Also any recommendations for good places to eat in Los Barrilles????

There are two east cape places with similar names, one is Buena Vista Spa Resort, the other is Rancho Buena Vista. Rancho Buena Vista is the classic original fishing resort that kind of made the east cape famous. I have been there MANY times and it will serve your purpose even if you don't fish. I have never been to Buena Vista Spa Resort but I have heard good things about it. I think you cannot go wrong with either one.

Buena suerte,

Marie Rose, I have not stayed at either of the Buena Vista resorts, But Hotel Palmas de Cortez is nicest of all the hotels in East cape area IMHO.

Actually it is the "Buena Vista Beach Resort". Lot's of confusion since they changed the name a few years ago. It used to be "Spa Buena Vista".

Two good indoor restaurants would be "Otra Vez", & Tio Pablo's". Several other places are good for breakfast or lunch.

I prefer BVBR over hotel Palmas de Cortez because it is MUCH quieter. Fewer kids. Down side: you need a car to go to Los Barriles. There are several good & cheap outdoor places for food, but you will need to bring a beverage of your choice if you want anything stronger than soft drinks.

Buena Suerte,

Dave

One of the best places in Los Barriles(IMHO) is Trenny's(sp?) Campestre. Killer fresh seafood. I had one of the best seafood soups I have ever had there. It is almost directly across from the smoke house on the opposite side of the street. Tio's and Otra are also good but more touristy.

I really like Rancho Buena Vista because it is so low key(Hint: if you stay at Rancho BV be very careful with the margies at the bar....2 is my limit. The last time we were there I asked the bartender for a margarita no muy fuerte and he gave me half a margarita:lol::lol::lol::lol:
But I have never stayed at the Spa or whatever they call it now. It certainly is a beautiful spot.

I doubt you could go wrong with either hotel.

If you want just a little pampering I would suggest the Buena Vista Beach Resort. We took our wives there and they had a ball. Also stayed at the Rancho Buena Vista, very nice place for the guys on a fishing trip, make sure you check out the bar at the beach (I think Ray Cannon used to stay there). Palmas de Cortez is also very nice, but a bit busier, I've stayed there a few times as well. Rent a car at Los Cabos Airport as cab fare to the Los Barriles/East Cape area is pricey (about $80.00 US if I remember correctly). Bien Viaje, Paul

You might try El Barilito. It is up the road from Otra Vez, a long walk or short drive. Outdoors, with a full bar-- they serve sushi, but we didn't try it. They have good steaks, great ribs, and more. Interesting daily specials. The seafood-stuffed huachinango was delicious, with shrimp, scallops, and octopus. We ate there two nights in a row, good atmosphere and service.
