Here are some of my favorite Baja & Mexico home building blogs and websites. I go here to look for ideas (since I’m lacking the creative gene),
and to dream.
BAJA BLOGS
Nomads Bob and Susan’s website tops the list for the content, photos and details of their Bahia Concepción project.
The most current and up to date personal webpages I've ever seen. Fun to watch them take on their project and they generously share the lessons
they've learned and info they've gathered. http://www.mulege.org/
Nomad “Morgaine7” has a website chronicling the challenge she’s taken on with remodeling a home in La Paz. She may still be in transit from Egypt to
her big move to La Paz, but I’m sure she’ll start updating her site when she starts up destruction, I mean construction again. This site will give you
a backache just looking at all the work in store for her.

This is my current favorite, and a jewel of a site. This couple building a home near Cabo Pulmo, are not only artsy and creative, but their use of
natural and locally found materials will have you slapping your forehead saying “why didn’t I think of that”, or in my case “I never would have
thought of that”. She is an artist and a photographer and her companion blog of her desert garden is beautiful.

MAINLAND MEXICO BUILDING ADVENTURES
A fixture on the Mainland-focused “Mexico Connect” board is Rolly who seems to know a little about everything and a lot about some things, including
building and construction in Mexico. He’s a wealth of information and is always generous with sharing his knowledge. His glossary of Spanish
construction tools and terms is handy.

On the coast of Oaxaca near Huatulco, these folks have recorded the progress of their home building on this blog. A beautiful location on the beach
and those white “marmol” floors that you see in the coffeetable books of gorgeous Mexican coastal homes. I find their lack of hurricane protection
kind of interesting given their location (?).

Not a home building site, but an interesting Mexico- living blog with neat photos of a small mountainous town in Veracruz.

Any favorite blogs and homebuilding sites to share ?

I'de like to step up to the plate and mention that today was
"Dia del abanil" or the "day of the bricklayers".
According to the Catholic liturgical calendar, today is the Feast of the Holy Cross. This is the patron saint day of all bricklayers, or "abaniles".
My crew had a cross up by 7:30 am.
I gave the boys 200 pesos for breakfast and cervezas.
They worked until 7pm!!!

What a great start to an abs0lutely essential thread!
Really like the house in Patzcuaro by Michael Dickson. Reminds me of times I spent "between the buttons" in the early 70s.
great

Here's another favorite site to Bookmark for info and inspiration. These folks have built their own home and a series of rental villas on Anguilla and
St. Barts and have done a beautiful job. Similar challenges one experiences when building in Baja, especially remote Baja- power, water storage,
materials, severe weather, hot climate,etc.
This site is extensive so for easiest viewing, go to the main page for each of their projects and you'll find building diagrams, photos of
construction progress, materials lists etc.
All of their building materials must be ordered, imported and then delivered by boat to the island and she shares her exhaustive research on a
resource page as well as within the pages for each of the projects. (suppliers of stainless steel hinges for those on the ocean , for example). Also
check out her list of Links and book recommendations.

Another note about the "Beachshack site": These guys did take hurricane protection seriously and have a variety of examples for both storm and
security protection- rolling shutters, accordion shutters, glass panels with mylar inside, lexan, louvered doors, etc.
This site has so much info it could use a "search" function to find it all.
