Has anybody used this to learn Spanish?bajabound2005 - 5-6-2007 at 04:25 PM
I am using it in a rather spotty manner. It's actually pretty good. I'm sure you could find a fine used copy on ebay or amazon.DavidT - 5-6-2007 at 07:41 PM
Check with your local library, they might have an online link to Rosetta Stone. In San Diego all you need is a SD County library card and you have
access to a library version of Stone. I don't know how much it differs from their purchased product but its pretty good.capt. mike - 5-7-2007 at 05:07 AM
anyone want to share their copy? i'll pay to pirate one.Reeljob - 5-7-2007 at 08:03 AM

So would that be like me hiring you to fly down to wherever and then not paying you? They're both stealing, right?Santiago - 5-9-2007 at 03:02 PM

Not to steal the thread but Manny Mota was, without a doubt, the finest pinch-hitter to ever live. Held the record for most pinch-hits until a few
years ago; batted .319 as a pinch-hitter and .304 lifetime. Did it without 'roids, I might add. Is a coach in the Dodger organization and a very
highly respected batting coach.
In the last year of his career, last game of a lousy season (Dodgers were out of it by August), bottom of the ninth, 2 out, runners on 2nd and 3rd,
Lasorda pulls the batter and signals for Manny to take his last at bat, forever. Manny walks out of the dugout, takes a few warmup swings and settles
into the box; fouls off a few pitches and then lines a clean single to right - lights out.
It doesn't get much better than that.....Hook - 5-9-2007 at 03:50 PM
I think Mike was referring to Zacatecan Mota or possibly his relatives, Oaxacan Mota or Sinaloan Mota.
or the boxing great "Smokin' Mota"

Definitely! They were bush leaguers.
I remember Manny well, as I was a Dodger fan at the time. Believe Manny broke in with the Pirates organzation. I also think he broke the PH record of
either Jerry Lynch or Smokey Burgess.DENNIS - 5-9-2007 at 04:31 PM
Thank God for Manny. This thread was about to go south till Manny stepped up to the plate.bajabound2005 - 5-9-2007 at 04:38 PM

i'll gladly split costs with someone to share the previously purchased software which MIGHT be loadable onto more than one computer and not restricted
to single use.....
and no, you can't "steal" air time from me. I am not a charter deal, only do legal FAA shared expense flying......and i ALWAYS take a deposit in
advance of pax boarding.DENNIS - 5-9-2007 at 04:57 PM

You're right. You're always right. I'm just a kid but, you guys are making me old quick.
OK .... I have to go do my homework before I get grounded.tripledigitken - 5-9-2007 at 05:02 PM
I think by reading this thread that's it's clear that there is more that one "old hippie" on this board.
I thought the Motas lived in Guerrero Negro
Lee - 5-9-2007 at 05:10 PM
I once was walking the back streets of GN, and a car slowly drove by with a guy in back hanging out the window saying: mota, mota, mota.
I've heard good things about the Rosetta Stone system. EVerything helps.

BINGO! Ken remembers em!
Oh yeah, it was Smokey Burgess that Mota passed. I did a search. Jerry Lynch was #2 at the time but I belive he still has the ML record for most PH
homers.
I remember Manny as a good hitting platoon outfielder with the Pirates in the mid 60s, too. This was when Stargell was emerging, Bill Virdon was
fading and Clemente was a fixture in right, of course. I absolutely loved Clemente and would always have my dad take me to see the Pirates when they
came to Dodger Stadium.DENNIS - 5-9-2007 at 05:29 PM
Roberto Clemente could have run for president, and won, before his plane went down.
Given the current candidates, if he were a write-in today, he would win. His first act as president would be to dump the "no foreigner" law.The Gull - 5-11-2007 at 08:16 AM
This original posting got seriously hijacked. Whew!!!!!
