Bajalero - 5-8-2007 at 03:23 PM

Looks like summer is here . Or there, since I'm not there at the moment.

Any one know the location of this weather station ?

Says "on the river "

San Francisco was projected to reach 92 degrees yesterday. People were falling to the ground and melting. 77 today ... bad news because those melted people are rising back up again, like poor yeast, and they're peeed.

HOT here in OB.....80 and mid-summer-like! but the GLOOM is just around the corner.:?:

Hook - 5-8-2007 at 06:01 PM

All it would take for a misreading of 10 degrees is for the sensor housing to be in a little direct sunlight. Not likely across from Saul's, but possible.

Remember, this is a private station.

Sharksbaja - 5-8-2007 at 06:27 PM

Bruce is right. Sta. Rosalia is typically hotter on any given day but according to the Mulege River site Mulege was considerably hotter during the same periods. Something is wrong with that station.

Bruce R Leech - 5-8-2007 at 06:39 PM

cheep equipment and the sensor is mounted right above the hot roof in the direct sun: but I noticed the low for the day was way to low also lol:

What bay? I was talking about Mulege and Sta Rosalia. Of course the station there I've been monitoring for 4 years could be off as well. If you mean along the river, oh yeah, it's always a bit cooler and breezier(when I'm there).

Pompano - 5-8-2007 at 08:10 PM

The Bay is now a very comfy 72 degrees...like San Diego seaside...and will be cooler those 2 hours just before dawn. Mulege always seems a little stuffy and cloistered for us in summer..at least for the 35 years we have been here...BUT..we could be wrong!

Sharksbaja - 5-8-2007 at 08:25 PM

nah.....never. But I thought we were comparing Mulege & Sta. Rosalia. My mistake sorry.

...I think I could put up with the 'heat' there on the Bahia, with the proper container of fermented, icy, liquid close at hand...if it weren't for that CRAPPY view off your back patio!

I guess someone has to put up with all those 'hardships' down there...enjoy!

It's really very nice here in the Bay...and in town, too. I don't know what is wrong with the device used on the weather station in Mulege that Bajalero mentioned, but it obviously needs re-calibrations. Yesterday afternoon, I went into my favorite watering hole/fishlore consortium, the Jungle, and temps were the same as here..about mid-80's.

Current temps: At this moment it is 5:37 a.m. (I'm an early riser.) and my old-time, but accurate, gauge says 68 degrees. So, for the last week or so, it has been from high 60's to high 80's. Perfect spread for early May, don't you think? Your place at Pta. Arena would be even nicer with the prevailing afternoon winds cooling you. As you know, the Bay is usually calm in the mornings, then you can set your clock for the 12:30 pm winds...very refreshing..and the windsurfers love it, too. I am a catman myself.

We have prepared for the coming June heat, though. Manuel and I put down 2 coats of solar-reflective white roofing paint. It really makes a huge difference inside the casa. About 15 degrees cooler at least. I have to wear a parka at this time of day just to go in and make coffee...

Now...someone take the popsicle away from Algore and bring on the global warming.

Pompano - 5-9-2007 at 06:07 AM

Alas...We don't get the Mulege Net out here in the boondocks...

You will have to wait and see if some of the lurkers in Mulege won't chime in. Hey, guys...get on the board!

capt. mike - 5-9-2007 at 07:14 AM

Roger, i am coming back next week to stay thru memorial and the tourney.

Reading Mulege's temperature problems with envy. Here on PAcific west of La Paz , we are having a typical May - cold foggy mornings (now 59F/93% humidity - thick fog).

It does warm up nicely though.

What's the water temp. like?, I'm thinking about packing up my boy and heading down for some snorkeling. Water still too cold (for me) in Bahia.

Pompano - 5-11-2007 at 09:32 AM

The photo below is an old one from Burros Beach ..about 1995...but I could not think of another way to tell you how nice the water temps are here right now. Absolutely great!

Makes for some great snorkeling and just ..hanging out at the poolside..er water.. table..
