TJ Beer is here!

David K - 5-16-2007 at 09:16 PM

Well, the tour post by Ferna and Doug's link to where one can buy TJ Beer in the U.S. was right on!

In fact, I went to the Costco in Vista, and not only was there cases and cases of Tijuana Beer, Morena & Guera... but the brewery boss was there too... who we had met in Tijuana!

Here's my truck in my garage, fresh from Costco:

Packoderm - 5-16-2007 at 11:23 PM

Their hat looks pretty cool. I look forward to trying the Morena.

Taco de Baja - 5-17-2007 at 11:30 AM

So how are they?
like Modelo?, Tecate?, Corona? XX?, Negra Modelo?

Best Mexican beer out there?
Hand crafted taste?
Mass produced taste?
Brewed in a trashcan taste?
Better than Buttwiper? ;)

Refreshing on a hot summer day?

Details please!

Hook - 5-17-2007 at 11:57 AM

Cerveza Tijuana?......I'll bet this wasnt the most favored name in their marketing department.

IT'S THE WATER THAT MAKES THE BEER

Please, I only drink beer that has a good, smooth flavor! They are unlike any other beers, but the Guera is close to Bohemia to my buds. The Morena has a sweet, woody flavor and since I don't drink dark beer very often, I couldn't really compare it.

The brewmaster is from the Czek Republic and the Guera is a Czek Pilsner style beer with character... See http://www.tjbeer.com for details.

We toured the brewery... at VivaBajaCactus, last November...

More on TJ Beer (from their web site)

David K - 5-17-2007 at 03:27 PM

Our Beers...
are all 100% Pure Beer! Brewed only with Barley Malt, Hops, Yeast and Water under the Strictest Guidelines of the International Purity law of 1516. They are all distinguished, elite, gourmet beers for the most demanding palates. They are all the only Hand Crafted, Limited Production, Lager beers in Mexico!

Our family recipe and the personal attention of our master brewer creates a beer that excites the senses. With his experience, care, and effort, he brings together all of the elements that result in the aroma, body and taste of our excellent beer. In each of our beers, he has blended a Mexican brewing recipe with a Czech twist. It is with great pleasure that we offer you the fruits of our efforts.

Tijuana Guera
A beer that satisfies the taste of beer connoisseurs. Its blend of finely balanced hops and malt and the bottom fermentation used to brew this beer produce an uncommonly rich flavor. It is a full-bodied Lager beer with a crisp flavor and aroma. Once you drink this beer you won’t change it for any other.
4.5% Alc. Vol.
Extr.Orig. 10.5

Tijuana Morena
This Dark beer is unique among all others. Its smooth body, light caramel flavor and mahogany color are a result of the special combination of several malts. With its sweet aftertaste it is believed to be a delicacy among beers.
4.5% Alc. Vol.
Extr.Orig. 11.5%

So, where's the photo's of the TJ Beer girls, David? They're not honestly trying to make a go of it without beer babes, are they? :?:

Some one left that off their Czechlist of successful Mexican beers.............

David K - 5-17-2007 at 03:43 PM

Beer should sell on taste, not boobs, frogs, or whatever!

Beer on boobs sounds good to me:wow:

Hook - 5-17-2007 at 04:06 PM

It was just a bit of boyish humor...........the beers sound pretty good.

Darker one sounds like Newcastle.

DENNIS - 5-17-2007 at 04:38 PM

Is it exported?

DENNIS - 5-17-2007 at 04:40 PM

I don't mean by you, David. Just wondering if it is yet available in the states?

Hook - 5-17-2007 at 05:02 PM

He mentioned Costco in Vista, CA., Dennis. Company reps and everything.

But no girls........didnt mention the burro, either........whew, now THAT would have been some authentic TJ marketing.

DENNIS - 5-17-2007 at 05:15 PM

Oh. I didn't see that.

DENNIS - 5-17-2007 at 05:17 PM

Probably cause I didn't pay attention and read the posts above.

DENNIS - 5-17-2007 at 05:19 PM

Maybe cause Im just self centered and like to see myself in print and run up the post count.

DENNIS - 5-17-2007 at 05:20 PM

I don't know anything anymore.

AmoPescar - 5-17-2007 at 05:53 PM

ALL THIS TALK ABOUT BEER....

I had to get up and go get myself a cold one...Dos Equis Amber!

TASTES GREAT...mmmmmmmmm!!

MIGUELAMO   :bounce:

David K - 5-17-2007 at 05:54 PM

ha ha ha... you guys crack me up!!! Dennis, I started this thread saying "TJ Beer is here"... with photos of my truck in my garage and me in front of my Oceanside home holding cases of the stuff...

Hook, I understand the humor... and I wasn't trying to be anti-humorous with my reply... Bud has frogs, Tecate has girls, Tijuana has taste (and a funny sign in the men's room at their brewery tavern where that photo was taken).

Many of you like beer with a strong flavor... I like a smooth flavor, but can appreciate a strong beer on occaision. My favorite beers are Dos Equis Special Lager, Pacifico, and many others including Tecate in Baja, not the import, Modelo, Superior, and Mexicali... Of non Mexican beers, I will drink when nothing else is available: Miller MGD, Foster's, Asahi, Coors Lite, Bud Lite. I won't drink Bud, ever....

Tijuana Guera and Morena are specialty beers to me because I toured the brewery, met the Czech brewmaster and other brewery personal and we had a great time in the tavern there. The TJ beer does taste better (to me) from the taps at the brewery than from the bottles (true of any beer I am sure)... I still think it is a premium brew and do enjoy drinking it... In fact, the first case is almost gone... I have been sharing it, however!

Avatar change comin' ????? :bounce:

David K - 5-17-2007 at 06:30 PM

Amo, come on over and try TJ Morena... it's plenty cold and you know where I live!

David K - 5-17-2007 at 06:31 PM

Check that... you were at the brewery in Tijuana, so you have tried it... you can still come over for a cold one amigo!

AmoPescar - 5-17-2007 at 06:40 PM

DAVID K....

Try drinking the Cerveza Tijuana out of a cold glass. I think you'll find that it makes a world of difference.

If you don't do it already, keep a few glasses in the freezer...ready to go You'll enjoy your beer more!

Miguelamo :)

Bob H - 5-17-2007 at 06:43 PM

David, this beer looks and sounds like I need to try it.

Hey, the photo of your truck... with all the Baja stickers... you gotta get rid of that "Carlsbad" license plate frame. That cracked me up!
Bob H

PS: U2U me your address and when I'm in the area I give you a call and stop by sometime.

David K - 5-17-2007 at 06:51 PM

It's where I got the truck Bob... I am thinking of making one that says: "CAUTION: Driver has Baja Fever!"

Bob, the open invite applies to you, too... I am 30 minutes from your house.

Rinse off the beer glasses and put in the freezer wet!!!

DENNIS - 5-17-2007 at 07:27 PM

Yeah ... That's right. And when you find your crystal frozen to the floor of the freezer, do what you should have done to begin with. Drink it out of the bottle like Pacifico.
Right, Terry?

bajaguy - 5-17-2007 at 07:32 PM

Crystal????....I was talking about those red plastic cups that you get at Costco...........oooooooooh, ice cold Pacifico!!!!

bajadogs - 5-17-2007 at 09:36 PM

FYI - I just checked the Costco on Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad and they don't have it.

I'll keep looking...

David K - 5-17-2007 at 11:08 PM

I got it at Costco in Vista... Hwy. 78 to Emerald, south to Hacienda then east... It is along the freeway. The tjbeer.com web site lists the places it is sold or served...

Caguama Beer

Oso - 5-18-2007 at 05:12 PM

I've had many a "caguama" (liter bottle) of TKT, Superior, XX, etc. and a few "ballenas" (same thing) of Pacifico. But this is the first time I've had a beer named Caguama in a 12 oz. bottle. It was the cheapest import at Fry's today, $9.99/12pk, so I tried it. It's from El Salvador and is ni muy muy ni tan tan, not terrible but nothing very distinctive about it either. Tastes light & bland, pretty much the same as an American Budmillitz. Probably ok if served very cold on a hot day.

DENNIS - 5-18-2007 at 05:23 PM

Isn't Frys an electronics store?

David K - 5-18-2007 at 05:25 PM

There is a beer made in Costa Rica that is very poor as well, marketed to look and sell like a Mexican beer... It may have even been called 'Cabo'!?

David K - 5-18-2007 at 05:26 PM

By the way, the company that imports TJ Beer reads Nomad... and sent me an email! Just saying that more Costcos are adding Cerveza Tijuana and to check the web site for the locations nearest you!

Around here in Yuma, it's a supermarket chain competing with Albertson's on the sortof high end.

bajalou - 5-18-2007 at 08:00 PM

Fry's supermarkets were around before Fry's Electronics got started.

edm1 - 5-18-2007 at 08:16 PM

David, one of your 4x4 splash guards' missing.
