sentri

My wife and I are in the process of obtaining our Sentri passes. We went to Otay Mesa for hers. I reviewed the requirements for using the Sentri lane. I have a Toyato Tundra with a Callen Camper. Apparently that truck with the camper. is not allowed. I asked if a Kayak mounted on top of a Toyato Rav would be acceptable and was told no. What type of problems have you nomads had:?:

No problems for us. We just don't use the Sentri when we have the camper on the truck or the kayaks on the racks. I have crossed with surfboards hanging out the back of my 8' long pickup bed. No hassles yet.

People can hide in campers or in canoes on the roof!

I have a full size pick-up with a callen cab-over camper. I got the sentri pass before I bought the camper. I have crossed many times with the camper on it and have never had any problems. Take the camper off, get the sentri pass and then put it on.

Before I put the camper on, I asked three different agents when crossing if a camper would be OK and they all said sure. And it has been OK.

Maybe the folks in charge of issuing the passes have a different set of rules than the guys manning the gates. I know that doesn't make any sense so it's probably true.
