Mulege Manana

lindsay - 5-18-2007 at 10:08 PM

So, manana it's off to Mulege and I had fun today at school sharing this special place with my English class. My students come from mostly Asia and Europe so they've only ventured from San Diego to Tijuana or some as far as Ensenada during their time in the US.

I let them now that I'm going to Mulege on vacation with my daugther to see her dad and her big Mexican family that includes 14 cousins ranging from her age, 6 to 20.

So, the students want to see where Mulege is and what it looks like there so thanks to good ole Google, we just do our search and off we go on a free trip to Mulege via the web!!

Well needles to say, after this lesson they were all wanting to go especially when the weather in SD has been May gray for awhile. It was great to watch their eyes go wide when they say the photos of different places in and around Mulege. Of course the beaches got plenty of "ahhs" but one student saw a picture of a cardon and was just in awe...so their reactions were a good reminder of how fortunate we all are to know this part of the world and enjoy it.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend and I know that I will!!

Hi Lindsay, Good news. I know your return to Mulege will be as great as all the others have been for you.

Here's another Mulege-area cactus photo for those students of yours.

Happy trails...Pompano.

Pompano,
I loved the photo! It reminded me of the school I used to teach at, and how every child and teacher started their day with a Salutation to the Dawn from the Sanskrit. We would stand facing the sun with our arms outstretched, just like the cardon and your friends in your photo. The children learned the Salutation to the of the Dawn at the age of 3 in Pre-school and said it every day of school until they graduated in sixth grade. It was a wonderful way to start our day.

LISTEN to the exhortation of the Dawn!
Look to this Day! For it is Life, The very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the Varieties And Realities of your Existence;
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived
Makes every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every To-morrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn.

Thanks!
And Lindsay, Have a great trip, and happy end of the school year to you!
