Kansas City to La Paz

Any advice on flying Kansas City to La Paz? We flew to San Diego in January and had a great time...driving as far south as Guerro Negro. But we'll never make it as far as La Paz, and I'd like to see that area. Most flights from KC seem to go to LAX and then switch to either a Delta commuter or an Aeromexico commuter. I'm not big on commuter flights and even though I fly a 60 year old prop plane, I don't want my wife and kid on a prop powered commuter. But lots of the commuters are regional jets now,which is fine. So my question is who flies there, what do they fly and how well does it all work. I have frequent flyer miles on Midwest and American,which might be a consideration. Thanks in advance for all the help. This board really made or trip in January much much better.

AeroMexico flys jets (full size) to La Paz and Los Cabos from L.A., as do other airlines from various U.S. cities...

Certaintly we can bring some Rosedales. But it won't be till Jan 2008. And we'd expect to trade for lobster and fish tacos etc.:P

what?! haven't you heard? there is a new service KC to cabo, i saw the ad in the star last oct when i was there for the ZPZ con cert. i think 2twice a week.

Is Cabo close enough to La Paz that it doesn't matter???? The last place on earth I want to be is anywhere near some mega resort at Cabo wabbo. But if I should fly there and rent a car, let me know. I do think maybe I saw that Midwest ( the chocalate chip cookie airline) was going to Cabo. When I search Orbitz KC to La Paz i don't see much. All the flights connect at LAX and sound like they then transfer to regionals rather than the big guys. Even the Aeromexico flights that I see are flown by a regional, at least according to Orbitz. But Cabo could work......I could use my American Airline miles:):):)
Pompano....my Stinson is a 108-3 Voyager, exactly like a Stinson station wagon except the interior trim is a little different. Great plane but the fuel economy sucks. Plus it's a little slow.

Taking Capt Mike's suggestion I looked at KC to Cabo. Wow what a difference. Less than half the price of KC to LAX to La Paz. So I guess that's the way to do it then. Way way cheaper anyway. What's the likely driving time from Cabo to La PAz???? Thanks for all the help.

Los Cabos Airport is actually north of San Jose del Cabo, so about 110 miles to La Paz... figure 2.5 hours as it isn't a freeway.

Looks like Cabo it is. Thanks for all the advice. Nice to know how long the drive is and that I can avoid the Cabo wabbo madness.

i am on the BBQ team "Renegade Amish Unchained" for the Royal's big smoke off every fall, we took 156 out of 500 teams ribs 2005. not too shabby, last year placed 8th overall brisket!

Dave - Rosedales is good.
but check out Smokin' Joe Jones sauce made right there in San Diego and shipped to many markets. its the best i,ve ever had. they have a killer spicy hot one.
i get it by the 12 qt. case shipped to PHX if i am not in SD flying some back.

But...would you also happen to know where, in San Diego, one could actually eat good BBQ? The real deal?

BTW, Rosedale's ain't my favorite. Just find it interesting and can't duplicate the flavor. I make the best sauce. No brag...just fact. :cool:

Capt. Mike.....don't plan to make the trip until Jan 2008. We run a nursery landscape business so it's impossible to get away spring or fall, and everything burns up if I'm not around to water all summer. So winter is for play!!! But I'll look you up at the American Royal if you're there this year. Not sure about the Amish unchained thing. We have several Amish/German Baptist ladies working for us, and even the young ones seem pretty buttoned down to me. Maybe it's the long dress and the bonnet though. If you get a chance you need to try the ribs at Guy And Maes tavern in Williamsburg KS.

my friend just flew his 1930s Funk 2 place 125 HP tail dragger to mulege twice from phx! any plane can do baja.

Mike...we flew comercial to San Diego. My wife won't fly that far in a 60 year old plane. Besides I have all that scuba gear to haul, so it won't all fit in the Stinson
BobNSusan....German Baptists, at least around here, come in a range of Luddite tendencies. The ones that work for us will drive cars, though they are dark colored 4 door american cars only. Nearby in Garnett KS there are "tractor" amish. They drive tractors only, and haul their kids in a trailer pulled by the tractor. No cabs allowed. No AC, no radio. But road gear can be 30mph if you pick the right brand. Nearby in Missouri there are "horse and buggy" amish of the Pennsylvania variety. While it all seems a little contrived to a non member, as a group of people, you couldn't ask for better friends and neighbors. And I do respect the idea that you can choose the level of technology you want to have in your life. If only I could convince my 9 year old daughter of the same idea.

4118C, unless you have actulaay been there I would suggest not listening to all the Cabo bashers here on this board. Granted it is not for everyone but give it a shot you may be suprised. You do not have to buy into the Cabo Wabo caca..............

OK, my 2 centavos worth..............

Fly into San Diego, and drive.......oh, forgot to mention.... bring plenty of BBQ sauce (several cases) and distribute to Nomads all down the length of Baja. You will be a hero to Nomads and instantly gain super hero status!!!

PS: Be sure to stop in Ensenada.....always hungry Nomads there!!!!!
